"It's cool to start a project knowing where you end, but getting to create how you get there," says Drake Rodger, who stars alongside Meg Donnelly in THE WINCHESTERS, the 1970s-set prequel to SUPERNATURAL that debuts tonight at 8 p.m. ET on CTV Sci-Fi Channel, CTV.ca, and the CTV app. Rodger and Donnelly play John Winchester and Mary Campbell, a.k.a. the future parents of demon-fighting siblings Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). Rodger, Donnelly, and Ackles - who narrates and is an executive producer on the new series - set the scary scene in a story by TV critic Bill Harris for The Lede, where more assets and photos are also available.
Big buzz continues to build in the SCOOBY-DOO world, as decades of fan speculation was confirmed recently that the Velma Dinkley character is, in fact, a lesbian. Also, in the upcoming animated HBO Max series VELMA, Mindy Kaling voices a South Asian version of the famous lead character. Constance Wu, Sam Richardson, and Glenn Howerton were recently added to a stellar voice cast that already has a long list of stars. A trailer for VELMA - which is coming to Crave in 2023 - can be seen here.
"Linsanity" is remembered and celebrated in the new HBO documentary 38 AT THE GARDEN. During his landmark 2012 season with the New York Knicks, undrafted Harvard graduate and future Toronto Raptor Jeremy Lin shocked fans, stunned teammates, and galvanized the Asian American community when he racked up 38 points at Madison Square Garden in the Knicks’ win against Kobe Bryant - who scored 34 - and the Los Angeles Lakers. But a decade later, Lin's stature as a cultural icon stands in stark relief to recent hate crimes against Asian Americans. The doc debuts today, only on Crave.
