"The Environmental Voter Project identifies millions of non-voting environmentalists and turns them into consistent voters."
It is estimated that over 8 million environmentalists did not vote in the 2020 presidential election and over 12 million skipped the 2018 midterms.

Help Streamline gather signatures to form an Urban Transportation District
|
|
Formation of a District will prevent the loss of federal funding for public transit through Streamline Bus service once the U.S. Census results certify Bozeman as a small urban area. They need to gather 13,000 signatures while the weather is decent! (Goal is by Oct. 30. Deadline is in early December.)
Go to the Streamline webpage to find out more information, see where you can sign the petition, and how you can help!
Use the October Actions Sign up form (scroll to the very bottom!) if you'd like to join other CCLers who want to get signatures. (One hour training required.)

Montana CCL volunteers talk about Media Lever success
|
|
Have you seen the new columns "Climate Conversations" in Lee Enterprises' newspapers across Montana? This is an amazing special project of the Montana Print Media Team!
Alex Amonette of Big Timber has been a driving force in bringing fellow CCL volunteers to meetings with editorial boards across Montana via Zoom. At one meeting, the idea for a series of articles on climate change was pitched. They received a resounding "Yes!"
The team has since planned nine segments. They've secured writers from around the state with a variety of expertise and unique perspectives. So far four Climate Conversations articles have been published.
How Concerned Should You Be?
"Over time, more and more people have joined the ranks of the major corporations, scientists, governments, and insurance companies that have become concerned about climate. How concerned should you be?"
This introductory article described the rising tide of climate change awareness in Montana.
The Greenhouse Effect, dancing carbon dioxide, and your hot car
"Have you ever taken a quick trip to the store on a summer day? You return to your car, open the door, and it’s unbearably hot. That’s the Greenhouse Effect!"
This article tells the story of how infrared energy energizes carbon dioxide molecules, making them 'dance'. Learn the basics of how greenhouse gasses keep our planet warm.
Goldilocks: From Just Right to Too Hot!
"Remember Goldilocks? When she tasted the three bears’ porridge, one was too hot, another too cold, but the third was 'just right'. Earth is the 'Goldilocks planet'—not too hot (like Venus), not too cold (like Mars), but just right for the development of life."
As this article explains, Earth is heating up, risking our "just right" environment. Learn what is happening and why. There is still time to put things back in balance.
Your Health and Climate Change
"Devastating wildfires, unprecedented floods, prolonged drought, unrelenting heat waves with record high temperatures: pick a locale or a time, there are plenty to choose from across the United States in each of those categories this year alone."
These events negatively affect people's health in many ways, both physically and mentally. Health professionals are gaining a better understanding. As this article details, technological advancements can limit damage but cannot fully protect our health.
There are more columns to come. Keep reading and learning. And, congratulations Alex and team! |
