SHPTO FAMILY FOOD AND TOILETRY DRIVE
The PTO is hosting a Food + Toiletry Drive!
Starting November 7th, the Scholls Heights PTO will be partnering with our McKinney Vento Office (formerly HELP Center) to collect items for BSD students experiencing housing instability. So far this year they have already received 700 student referrals and are running out of donations to distribute.
Here are the items they are requesting:
laundry detergent pods
quarters for laundry
shampoo & conditioner
body soap/wash
floss/toothbrushes/toothpaste
sanitary napkins
toilet paper
gift cards in $20 increments to Target, Fred Meyer and Winco
Specific food items could be anything kid friendly requiring little preparation (ex: peanut butter, crackers, bread, soup, mac & cheese, etc.) All donations will be distributed to Scholls Heights families first and any surplus will be donated to the Conestoga Food Pantry and the BSD McKinney Vento Office. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a big difference!
We will be running this food drive until November 16th, at which point the school staff will sort and distribute food boxes. We will have a labeled collection bin in front of the school near the front office.
We are also opening our Square account to those who might want to contribute monetarily. The Scholls Heights teachers and staff will use these funds to shop for perishable items immediately before delivery to ensure these families have access to fresh foods as well. Click here to donate $$
Thank you for supporting our Scholls Heights Community!
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
Back by popular demand - it's Family Movie Night!
Join us Wednesday, November 9th from 6:00 - 8:00 for a FREE movie night in the school cafeteria. Doors open at 6pm, movie starts at 6:30.
We will be showing Minions: The Rise of Gru.
This is a family event, which means a parent or guardian must stay with their student for the entirety of the event. Come sporting the comfiest of clothes, and bring blankets and pillows so you can snuggle in to watch the show! Concessions (popcorn, candy, beverages) will be available for purchase. Cash is preferred, cards accepted.

As we have resumed all of our normal school activities, one thing is missing - YOU!
All of the wonderful programs and activities that the PTO puts on for our students and staff need as many parent and guardian volunteers as possible to make them happen. We want to give our students as many opportunities as possible to do all of the extra fun stuff, but unless we get a bump in people volunteering, we may have to cancel some until more help is available. Sadly, we have had to postpone Makerspace and Passport Club because of a lack of volunteers to run these programs.
Do you want to get involved, but just aren't sure where? We are looking for parents willing to volunteer their time and/or talents to help us make this year special for our students and families!
Please fill out this form letting us know which activities you are interested in helping with.
We currently have openings on the following committees that need volunteers now:
Run Club
Staff Appreciation
Passport Club
Art Literature
Green Team
Maker Space
Gala & Auction
Fun Run
International Fair
...and more!

Any additional questions and further support can be found by emailing our Volunteer Coordinators.
