International Day of Older Persons - Celebration Events

International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) took place on October 1st and is an annual celebration day established by the United Nations and observed since 1990.

Thanks to funding from Calderdale Council 8 celebration events to mark IDOP are taking place across the region throughout October and early November.

All events are open to everyone aged over 50 and include:

 
An afternoon tea and information event for carers, ex-carers and their "cared-for" person hosted by Memory Lane Cafe at the Maurice Jagger Centre on Sunday 16th October.
 
A Coffee Morning showcasing Southowram Over Fifties Activities Group (known locally as SOFA) at Southowram Community Centre on Wednesday 19th October.

A Tea Dance at The Kings Centre on Tuesday 1st November hosted by Calderdale Carers Wellbeing Service.

Autumn Oil Lamps: A dance and music demonstration from Annapurna Indian Dance at Dean Clough Mills on Sunday 6th November.


Plus events at Ardern Road Social Club and St Columba`s Church hall, Pellon. Full details are on our website.
