Dear <<First Name>>,

In 30 days, during COP27 at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the world will deliberate on how to solve for climate change. And while previous international negotiations have focused on emissions reduction, COP27 is unique in its focus on adaptation and resilience – coming after a long year of devastating events worldwide, from Pakistan’s floods to Hurricane Ian in the United States.

In the lead up to this crucial conference, we are pleased to invite you to a film screening organised by IMC’s Young Leaders Forum, the India Climate Collaborative, the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS).

‘Faces of Climate Resilience’, a documentary series by CEEW, EdelGive Foundation, and the ICC, highlights the lived experiences of people affected by climate change, moving beyond intangible data. Climate resilience is the ability of a system or community to rebound following a shock such as a natural disaster. To build such resilience, we must not only recognise potential hazards like extreme weather events, but also understand the underlying vulnerabilities that may affect recovery from extreme events. These films venture out to some of India’s most vulnerable geographies, as identified by the Climate Risk Atlas, and capture stories of local, community-driven solutions.

Date & Time: Friday, October 14, 2022 | 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Members of a women’s collective gather at a patch of forest scorched by one of the several wildfires that have ravaged Sitlakhet in Uttarakhand’s Almora district. As forest fires have risen sharply in recent years, the mahila mangal dal now works closely with the state forest department officials in firefighting.
