NEWS:
JOIN OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Eastside Community Heritage is seeking to recruit volunteers to join our dynamic board of Trustees. Become a part of ensuring that ‘ordinary’ people’s histories are brought to light for future generations.

Over the past 23 years Eastside has worked on numerous projects recording, documenting and preserving the lives of Londoners. In 1999 we established an oral history archive which now holds over 4000 recordings. We are going through an exciting time of change within the organisation and are about to embark on Archive accreditation.

We are looking to recruit 2 - 4 new trustees, including a Chair to head the Board, with experience in the following areas:
  • Community Sector
  • Finance
  • Personnel
  • Fundraising
  • Change Management
Do you have 2-4 hours to spare a month? For further information, please email recruitment@ech.org.uk.

Closing date Monday 31st October 2022.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH FACTFILES:
CELEBRATING BLACK LONDONERS
Black people have always been a part of London - a recent discovery in Southwark found the remains of several Black African adults from the Roman period. Our archives contain hundreds of histories of Black people and communities in East London from the late 19th Century onwards, who have shared their stories with us. In the factfiles below, we celebrate three Black individuals and their achievements, whose stories feature in some of our archived exhibitions.
