Campus Sustainability Month is celebrated in October by many Universities around the world including The American University in Cairo; the purpose of the month is to encourage those in higher education to alternate to more sustainable habits. The Office of Sustainability has planned for multiple events to celebrate this month to engage and inspire the AUC community toward being sustainable. Check out below the plan for Campus Sustainability Month and mark your calendars for these events!
AUC joined the Race to Zero campaign, a UN-backed global initiative aimed at achieving a zero-carbon world. The University has pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
On the 22nd of September,  the Office of Sustainability in Collaboration with the Student Union celebrated world Car-Free day by handing out giveaways to Carpoolers and providing prioritized parking next to the Pepsi entrance all morning! Carpoolers were incredibly pleased with the giveaways and most importantly the hassle-free parking spot! Check out this video shared by Karim Lotfy, an AUC student, expressing how pleased he is with the event!

Sept. 26th- AUC's Road to COP27:

The session was conducted by many panelists headed by Dr. Khaled Tarabieh, University Architect and AUC's Climate Initiative Chair, to introduce to the AUC community the master plan for events and activities at the AUC pavilion at the Green Zone in COP27. 

Sept. 27th- World Bank Group's Middle East and North Africa Climate Roadmap:

The World Bank Group presented its climate roadmap in the Middle East and North Africa, which aims to spur climate action and implement a green recovery in the region. A panel discussion on food systems, water security, and climate-smart cities.

Today Oct. 2nd- Sustainability and Climate Change: A Mega-Trend by Ehab Shalaby
