Marc Dandin Named to Clark School’s Inaugural Early Career Distinguished Alumni Society
A. James Clark School of Engineering alum Marc Dandin (electrical engineering B.S. ‘04, M.S. ‘07; bioengineering Ph.D. ‘12), an early recipient of the department’s Fischell Fellowship in Biomedical Engineering, was named to the Clark School's of Engineering inaugural class of the Early Career Distinguished Alumni Society. Dandin is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where he holds a courtesy appointment in the Biomedical Engineering Department.
Dandin’s research interests lie at the intersection of microsystems engineering, integrated circuit design, and biomedicine. His recent work focuses on establishing new paradigms in technology integration for interfacing electronics with biological systems.
Prior to his faculty appointment, Dandin co-founded and led a startup company that aims to develop microsystems technologies for HIV/AIDS viral load monitoring in resource-limited settings. As a bioengineering graduate student, Dandin was co-advised by Fischell Institute Fellow Pamela Abshire (ECE, ISR) and Fischell Institute affiliate Elisabeth Smela (ENME, ISR).
