Welcome to VA BLOC's Newsletter "On the BLOC", where we share monthly updates on what the team and Action Squad have been up to!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s National Voter Registration Day Event that spanned two cities & multiple partner locations! We reached over 300 people with our voter information, had great conversations, and helped get our community registered and #VoteReady! A special thank you to the Action Squad and the Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for their dedication to building healthier communities.

*Recap & Rewatch* On 9/28/2022, we held a watch party for the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. We virtually attended inspiring, focus driven panels addressing food insecurity in every demographic of American society (with international examples), including families, active duty military, school meals, seniors, and more. The reality that food is healthcare was reiterated and a commitment and goal was made to end hunger in America by 2030. We will use examples and lessons learned from this conference to inform our work and situate us within the national conversation to tackle hunger, healthcare, and #HealthyCommunities.
