This Sunday is World Communion Sunday

United Methodist churches observe World Communion Sunday on the first Sunday in October. The observance focuses the attention of United Methodists on the universal and inclusive nature of the church. Offerings collected in United Methodist churches on World Communion Sunday are used to fund scholarships for young scholars and seminarians. Donations equip racial and ethnic minority students in the United States and international students to transform the church and communities.

One half of the proceeds from the offering is for World Communion Sunday Scholars administered by the General Board of Global Ministries. The remaining one half is to be used for the Ethnic Scholarship Program and the Ethnic In-Service Training Program, which are administered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.

Why do we wear Rainbow Stoles?

The Parents Reconciling Network Stole Project
Thank you to Myra Smith and our Travis Park Church Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) Ministry for their work to educate, advocate and provide Rainbow Stoles to our congregation. More opportunities to learn about RMN are coming soon!

Travis Park Church members and the Reconciling Ministries Network ministry wear rainbow stoles as a sign of our support of full inclusion of all.

You can find a copy of the stole pattern at The Welcome Desk on Sundays. You can also download them below.

Who's Hosting?

ALL ARE WELCOME AT THE HOSPITALITY TABLE!
Thank you to Puente Pals for being the first to sponsor Sunday's Hospitality Table - where our guests go for food, coffee, and conversation in McNees Hall after worship. We have spots open during the months of November and December if any group, ministry, family, or individual would like to sponsor. Please email Megan, our Directory of Hospitality and Events, for more information.

Donation & Volunteer Update

Below is a list of what we currently need:

MIGRANT NEEDS
We could use a few cases of water and shelf stable snacks (at this time please do not bring pantry items). *Corazon is currently staffing our Welcome Desk during the week and handing out food as needed for those passing through.

HALLOWEEN NEEDS
We need LOTS of candy this year! Not only will we have a Children's Halloween Party, but we will also hand out candy and candy alternatives at the PRIDE Families 9th Annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat. We are also looking for volunteers to help with decorating and activities. Please email Juliette to learn more.

FAMILY LIFE NEEDS
Please email Shiloh Morris for more information about Family Life opportunities to volunteer, including nursery workers, Pray Ground stewards, and Youth mentors. If you have already submitted your interest, make sure to complete your SAFE GATHERINGS training!

ELECTRONIC NEEDS
Do you have a retired laptop or iPad that still has some life left in it? The office staff would love to put these to good use for data entry needs, check-in stations on Sunday mornings, and taking to community events. Let us know!
Do you have questions about any of the groups and events mentioned? Are we missing something? Please email us as info@travispark.org
