MEET OUR INTERIM RECTOR ...
The Rev. Stacey Grossman is Epiphany's Interim Rector
and will be the Celebrant at the 8 am and 10 am services this Sunday.
Dear all,

This past Sunday we celebrated the St. Francis Day blessing of the animals, and some pictures are attached! I especially loved the tomb shaped PB&J sandwiches and the pudding with the gruesome boney hand sticking out of it. . Thank you to Laura Grimm  and Pickles for creating such an amazing coffee hour for us. Truly a wonderful celebration!  my dog Dazzle barked almost the whole time much to the consternation of her person, but vet Michelle and the Senior Warden managed to keep the old girl distracted. It was a great day.

I was pondering animals this week and thinking about the blessing that they are to us. It is fashionable in certain circles to try and "de-emphasize" the connection between Francis and animals, as if to say that that is less important than some of the other important tenants of Franciscan spirituality such as poverty and  work in the world with those in great need. However, I think the Pandemic has changed our view of those things...I know for myself that Dazzle provided the only companionship I had in those dark days of lockdown. To have another beating heart, a living presence, with me actually saved me emotionally and spiritually. So while we blessed those creatures on Sunday, we can also give them our thanks for the unconditional love that they show us.

On Sunday I also paid a visit to St. Peter's Chapel on Mare Island. Have you been there? Dotti is a volunteer guide there, and if you have not gone, you should! There are multitudinous Tiffany stained glass windows, and Dotti also gave us a short concert. What fun!!!

I am meeting with the Vestry for our first official meeting this week, and out of that will come some sense of both our capital campaign and the rector's search. We have plenty to do, including finding a new permanent Music Director and "opening up" a bit with the guidance of our Re-Gathering Team, so let's get to it!

See you Sunday, with bells on!

love, Stacey

Episcopal Relief & Development is partnering with the Episcopal dioceses of Southwest Florida and Florida to provide supplies and direct financial assistance to people affected by Hurricane Ian.

Over 100 people have been killed by Hurricane Ian, a Category 4 storm that made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Thousands of people remain without power and many do not have access to clean drinking water as officials continue to survey the damage to homes and businesses.

With Episcopal Relief & Development’s support, the Diocese of Southwest Florida is providing direct financial assistance in the counties hardest hit by the storm. Local communities will use the aid to purchase gas and groceries, and for other special needs as they arise.

The Diocese of Florida, in partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, is distributing blankets, sleeping bags and providing direct financial assistance to unhoused people and storm survivors. They will also work to replenish local food pantries and damaged community garden spaces that provide fresh food to communities affected by poverty.
