Important Student Health Service update

Due to a high volume of (non-COVID) respiratory illness on campus, Student Health Service appointment booking has been temporarily disabled. If you need care, you should walk-in to be seen at SHS. Note that previously scheduled appointments will still be held. Additional information and resources can be found here.

Hit the Bricks, Oct. 6

Each year, the Wake Forest community comes together in the fight against cancer for Hit the Bricks, which will take place on Thursday, Oct. 6. Gather your friends and start making a team. Registration is $25 and includes a t-shirt. All proceeds go to the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. Register for Hit The Bricks (registration closes Friday, Sept. 30).

Strategic Listening Session, Oct. 5

Your voices are critically important as we work as a community to understand what makes us distinct and differentiates us from other great universities. As part of the University’s strategic framework process, the Core Planning Team, Division of Campus Life, Student Government Association and other partners are offering specific opportunities for student voices to be heard. Sign up for the next listening session — refreshments provided! — on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Register

Family Weekend, Oct. 7-9

Family Weekend is almost here! Complete details, including event information, football ticket ordering, and how to download the Family Weekend app can be found at familyweekend.wfu.edu.

What3words app shares exact locations for wayfinding and emergencies

What3words has created a grid of the entire world, divided into 3-meter squares. What3words is used by many 911 centers to get the exact locations of emergencies that people call in to report. You can download the app to your phone and use it to provide your exact location to others. Learn more about the app.

Campus Health Committee to provide update on COVID-19, flu vaccines

As part of the continuing shift from pandemic to endemic operations, Wake Forest recently established a standing Campus Health Committee to provide ongoing guidance and recommendations related to all manner of public health issues with the potential to impact the University community. The Campus Health Committee will provide an update prior to Fall Break, which begins October 13, on COVID-19 and flu vaccines as we prepare for a time of year when infectious diseases tend to be more prevalent.

Impact of Hurricane Ian

To all of you who have family or friends in the path of Hurricane Ian, you are very much in the minds and hearts of your Wake Forest family. University leaders have begun outreach to students, families and alumni with home addresses in Florida with messages of concern and support. The University’s emergency response team is keeping a close watch on the projected path of the storm, including the current Tropical Storm Warning for most of N.C., and is making appropriate preparations. Communications and External Relations will send an update tomorrow regarding any anticipated campus impacts.
