  Keep Up the Good Work Writing Postcards!

Thanks to all of this week’s postcard writers, we are close to completing our packets of postcards to pro choice voters in Pennsylvania in time to meet the deadline. Please join us again at  Action Hour Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 5:30-6:30 at NU Kitchen, 19-23 Pleasant Street in Newburyport and help us complete the final packets on time.

Once we finish this batch of postcards with the tight deadline, we’ll continue to meet at NU Kitchen on Wednesdays at 5:30 through October 19. After that, it will be too close to Election Day to write and mail postcards to swing states. 

We're also continuing our Postcards-to-Go program through Friday, October 21. Now is the time to pick up a pack of 50 postcards and request a script and addresses for as many postcards as you are able to write over the next few weeks. If you're not already a remote postcard writer, please email us at indivisible.rise.newburyport@gmail.com for instructions and to request addresses and a script.

With so few weeks left for postcard writing before the upcoming midterm elections, let’s all buckle down and write as many as we can! When we’re done writing postcards, please shift your attention to other actions if you are not already involved with phone banking, texting, canvassing or other campaigning opportunities.  
 

 Phone Banking Action Evening

Our next Action Evening will be all about making phone calls to voters. We’ll meet via Zoom from 6:30 - 8:00 on Tuesday, October 18 and will break out into separate rooms for different calling options. Choose to call local voters for Dawne Shand with support from the Newburyport Democratic City Committee, Massachusetts voters for Democrats running for state offices, or voters in swing states to help ensure Democrats hold the Senate, the House and Governorships.  Register here. 
 

Direct Mail Campaigns 

Senator Maggie Hassan's campaign is seeking volunteers at Journeyman Press at 11 Malcolm Hoyt Drive in Newburyport to help get out lots of direct mail. This is both easy work--moving rolling bins around or making sure mail pieces don't fall off the print line--and very important for the campaign, as it saves significant mailing costs that can then be used for other persuasion efforts. Canvass in Newburyport or New Hampshire

Every Saturday at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm until the election, we’ll be canvassing for Maura Healey and Dawne Shand right here in Newburyport. Register here to join us to talk to neighbors about why you are supporting Maura and Dawne. 

There also are important opportunities to canvass in New Hampshire to help Sen. Maggie Hassan and Rep. Chris Pappas win their tight reelection campaigns. Living so close to the NH border, we have an opportunity to help in a way that is not realistic for us in other swing states. There is canvassing every day between now and Election Day -- in Hampton on Saturdays and Sundays, and in Exeter on Saturdays and Sundays, and every weekday

 Ongoing Weekly Actions

In addition to the postcard writing and canvassing opportunities listed above, we continue to have regular actions almost every day of the week. We hope you will join us for any or all of them as often as you are able until Election Day. Our regular actions each day of the week are listed below. First, please note a few changes to our weekly schedule:
 

New Hampshire Phone Banks 
 

On Mondays at 4-6 pm, we are now joining up with the New Hampshire Democratic Party to call voters in that state where Sen Maggie Hassan, among other Democrats on the ballot, is facing a tough campaign. Election outcomes of elections in New Hampshire have a particularly direct impact on those of us in northeast Massachusetts, so let’s all help out! Register here to join other I-RISE and other callers on Monday afternoons  or to make calls with NH Dems any day of the week. There are phone banks at various times every day through Election Day.

 

Text with Multiple Groups 

For months, we have been training and texting with Movement Labs on Mondays at 12:30-1:30 and Thursdays at 3:00-4:00. We are continuing these sessions, but we’re now adding options to learn about texting with MoveOn, Working Families Party for Democrats in GA and WI, and Beto O’Rourke’s Texas Gubernatorial campaign. These new texting options are all about getting out the vote for Democrats, which makes them highly productive texting.

If you are new to texting, please join us to train on Movement Labs. Once you are signed up and texting with Movement Labs, join us to learn how to get started texting with any or all of the other organizations or campaigns. The more texting organizations and campaigns you sign up for, the more likely there will be texts available whenever you decide you’d like to text.
