What Makes You Happy?

Hey, broheim, that's a serious question right there. What makes you happy anyway? As for me, there are a lot of things that make me happy. But the most important thing is the feeling of freedom.

Today is "Fulfillment Friday" where we discuss the things that we can do to bring joy into our lives and talk about conventional and unconventional ways to find fulfillment.

Freedom is one of those things that everyone feels they deserve, however, not many people get it. Why? Well, I hate to break it to you, but most people don't do the things they need to do to deserve it. Let me explain...

You see, bronut, the problem with most people is that they see freedom as this thing that should be granted to them no matter what they do. The thing is though that often times, they do the very thing that takes away their freedom and that's letting unqualified people control their life.

Everyone is listening to someone these days. Don't get me wrong, mentors, coaches, and counselors can help, but most people aren't getting their advice from those people. They're getting advice from people that are just as stuck as they are. For example:

I remember when I first started GFC, I was getting advice from everyone. But just about everyone that offered their advice had never even sold anything successfully, let alone run a successful company. I had to go out and seek mentors. People that had (successfully) done it before. I talked to business owners and also read books by people that had started successful businesses.

While I may not be running a multi-million dollar company (yet), I'm not a slave to everyone else's opinion and I'm doing things my way. That's how it should be. For you, for me, for everyone.

So if you want freedom, here's a word of advice. Find people that have already found it and get their advice. It's just like anything else. You wouldn't ask a homeless person how to buy a home, so why would you ask someone that's clearly struggling with their own life how you should run yours? Pick your mentors and friends wisely. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes you should just let those opinions simply fall on deaf ears.
