Georgia Named No. 1 for Business for Unprecedented 9th Year

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Georgia has been named by Area Development magazine as the No. 1 state for business for the ninth consecutive year. No other state has earned this distinction for so many years. Governor Kemp was joined by executives from Kia Georgia, Bridgestone Golf, and Char-Broil’s parent company W.C. Bradley Corporation as well as members of the General Assembly, state and local economic developers, and local officials at Kia's training facility in West Point to make the announcement. Georgia earned a No. 1 ranking for the thirteenth year in a row for its workforce development program, Georgia Quick Start.

Central Georgia Technical College Student Becomes First Dual Achievement Program Graduate in the State

Aurmoni Robertson, a Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Academy student, has become the first graduate of the newly established Dual Achievement Program Pathway in the state. Robertson, who enrolled in the program in June 2022, has completed requirements to earn his credential, making CGTC the first college in the Technical College System of Georgia to award a high school diploma.

TCSG Announces Availability of $1 Million in Funding to Support Apprenticeships

The Technical College System of Georgia announced the availability of $1 Million in High Demand Career Initiatives Program funds to support the development and expansion of registered apprenticeships in Georgia’s high-demand industries. The program is focused on supporting Registered Apprenticeship expansion in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Agribusiness, Automotive, Construction, E-Mobility, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Supply Chain, Film and Entertainment, Public Services, and Information Technology.

Chattahoochee Tech Breaks Ground on Aviation Training Academy

Chattahoochee Technical College hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Sept. 9, in Paulding County to mark the beginning of construction for the college’s $35 million Aviation Training Academy. Community leaders gathered with Chattahoochee Tech staff and faculty for this event at a site located near the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. The three-story, 55,000 square-foot facility planned for this location will provide space for up to 200 students who will train in aviation mechanics and maintenance. It will include a 12,000 square-foot hangar along with instructional labs, classrooms, and a technical library. This facility will also include an administrative wing to provide for a Federal Aviation Administration testing lab and college faculty offices.

TCSG a Partner in $65M grant for the Georgia Artificial Intelligence Manufacturing Technology Corridor (GA-AIM)

TCSG is a partner in a $65 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support a statewide initiative that combines artificial intelligence and manufacturing innovations with transformational workforce and outreach programs. The grant will increase job and wage opportunities in distressed and rural communities, as well as among historically underrepresented and underserved groups. The Georgia Artificial Intelligence Manufacturing Technology Corridor (GA-AIM) effort is one of 21 winning projects announced earlier this month.

Oconee Fall Line Tech Student Discovers Hidden Treasure, Pursues Career as Early Childhood Education Teacher

When her youngest child entered elementary school, Akellah Jordan felt something she never had before. As she helped her daughter with homework assignments, she realized helping her with school was something she enjoyed. In addition, the joy it brought to see her daughter’s excitement to come home with a good grade caused her to rethink her career. Was she really doing what she loved? Jordan is employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, and while she enjoys her job, helping her daughter inspired her to think bigger.

Southeastern Tech Representatives Tour Emanuel County Industries with Area School Educators

Southeastern Technical College representatives toured Emanuel County industries on September 6 with other educators from area schools. The goal was to inform high school teachers of the job opportunities in the Emanuel County area so they could share these opportunities with their students.
