Here in New York, we have felt the change in seasons with the cool, crisp air tinged with the moisture of rain showers and the subtle beginnings of the changing colors of the leaves around us. The shift from summer to autumn often brings about a new rhythm. For our team, it has included the re-introduction of in person gatherings for May and Manni's church, a 're-planting' for Erika, and a mixture of personal and family matters that our board has been tending to. With the gentle reassurance of God's presence with us, we are thankful for God's invitation to continually learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
In heeding that invitation, we will be giving attention to the details of our planned in person events this month and next: the 10/22 Discern & Discover workshop/retreat and our 10 year celebration on 11/5. To do so, we have moved our Soul Care Cohort to January-March 2023 and opted to begin the Journeying with Jesus group spiritual direction in November.
We pray God would clear the way for you to join us in any of our upcoming groups and events if there is an invitation for them to be a part of the unforced rhythms of grace for you in this season.
Hagar: Her Cry in the Wilderness

Hagar, legacy or troublemaker? In the history of storytelling, Hagar has been highlighted as a troublemaker, quarrelsome, home wrecker, and mother of evil. However, upon in-depth study of Hagar’s journey, Krystin Bruan finds a rich portrait of Hagar for us to ponder and celebrate. Hagar models important biblical themes and prophecies of OT and NT. Her voice in the wilderness unveils God’s heart and guidance for the vulnerable. Hagar comes out of the wilderness armed with hope, God’s promises, protection, and courage. Trusting in God's leading, she returns and remains in a community where God is her ezer and is ultimately sent out in blessing with her son Ishmael.
A one day retreat of different ways to listen for God
Join us for our in-person one day retreat Saturday, October 22, in the beautiful setting of Our Lady of Grace in Long Island, NY. This retreat is open to both women and men interested in engaging in attentive listening and attuning our senses to God in a communal way. Registration closes 10/17!
JOURNEYING WITH JESUS
An 8 month group spiritual direction journey beginning in November
Journeying with Jesus is a cohort style of group spiritual direction where we meet monthly for 8 months in a group no more than 8 participants. This format of intentional group listening offers each participant more awareness of God in their lives, for the sake of others; helping individuals grow in their faith, love others more fully and participate in the mission of the Church more effectively.
