On Friday, Sept. 23, the Chiles Center transformed into a beautiful room filled with family, friends, colleagues and the UP community to celebrate the inauguration of President Robert Kelly. Many of those who personally know Kelly, flew in from out of state to witness his inauguration and celebrate his successes. 

An immaculate view over The Bluff. A maker space approximately three times as large as the current one. Open floor-plan study areas. These are just a few of the many features coming to the new Shiley-Marcos Center for Design and Innovation.

Freshmen aren’t the only students becoming a Pilot for the first time this year, transfer students are too. Their experiences of getting familiar with their new institution all come down to one thing, finding a sense of community.  

To honor the beginning of fall, The Beacon presents the latest edition of “Get baked with The Beacon,” with multiple recipes for fall-themed treats to try in the kitchen. (Vegan and gluten-free options included) 

As the air starts to get chillier and the leaves start to turn orange, we are quickly reminded that summer is officially coming to an end. There is no better reminder of the changing seasons than the sun entering a new astrological sign. On Sept. 23, the same day as the Fall Equinox, we officially enter a new chapter in our lives with the start of autumn and Libra season.

On Oct. 7, Our Campus, Our Canvas is returning to UP. Celebrating intersectionality in art, the event will boast an array of small business owners and artists sharing their work with the community.
