A big October of Lebanese cinema across Australia
The Lebanese Film Festival is presenting a busy October of Lebanese film across Australia, with Melbourne, Brisbane, Dubbo and Movie Under the Stars in Sydney events coming up, and the national release of the highly anticipated Al Hayba.
Below is list of what's coming up for LFF:
MELBOURNE
 Friday, 14 October at 9.00pm. Hoyts Melbourne Central. The popular comedy film, C-SECTION. Click here for tickets.

Sunday, 16 October at 2.00pm. Joint screening with the Dubbo Film Society as part of the Dream Festival. This event is free.

AL HAYBA NATIONAL RELEASE
The highly anticipated film, Al Hayba, to be released nationally from 12 October after a successful premiere week in Sydney. Al Hayba will screen at cinemas in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

DAUGHTERS OF ABDUL RAHMAN

Daughters of Abdul Rahman is directed by Zaid Abu Hamdan, our first Film of the Year winner in 2012 for his film Bahiya and Mahmoud. Years after escaping a dictated and suffocating family life, four estranged and offbeat sisters are forced to come together to find their suddenly-missing father. In their searching journey, secrets are revealed and more questions are raised. A comic but insightful film on life as a woman in the Arab world.

AL HAYBA THE MOVIE, NATIONAL RELEASE
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide
The Lebanese Film Festival will release Al Hayba nationally from 12 October in cinemas across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. Based on the popular Al Hayba series, the movie is a drama of hostages, murder and tit for tats. The murderer of Jabal’s father, is spotted alive in Bulgaria. Jabal heads a fierce hunt passing by Bulgaria and Istanbul, with the aim to bring Nazem back to justice to Al Hayba. The film stars Taim Hasan, Mona Wassef, Said Serhan, Rafic Ali Ahmad, Mohammad Akil.

WHERE CAN I WATCH LEBANESE FILMS AFTER THE FESTIVAL?
By popular request, our newsletter will now give you updates on where you can watch Lebanese films from the comfort of your own home. Each edition, we'll share three Lebanese films that are available online or through streaming platforms.
WEST BEIRUT, on Netflix. West Beirut is a 1999 film by Ziad Doueriri, this year's Lebanese Film Festival international guest. Three teens roam the streets of Beirut in the midst of Lebanon's civil war, filming on a Super 8 camera and dealing with the pains of growing up. Starring Rami Doueriri, Mohamad Chamas, Carmen Lebbos and Joseph Bou Nassar.
THE INSULT, on Google Play or Apple TV. Also directed by Ziad Doueiri, the Insult was screened at the Lebanese Film Festival in 2019 and 2022. It was Lebanon's first nomination at the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language film. After an emotional exchange between a Lebanese Christian Forces supporter and a Palestinian engineer escalates, a small scuffle ends up in court and the focus of a nationwide media blitz. What more can be said about this international, much nominated and poignant film. Directed by Ziad Doueiri and featuring a constellation of Lebanon’s greatest acting stars. Don’t miss this one!
CAPERNAUM, on Google Play, Apple TV or Amazon Prime TV. Directed by Nadine Labaki, Capernaum is an emotional and heart wrenching film that won the Cannes Jury Prize in 2018 and a number of other international awards! A poor young boy runs away from his house after his parents marry off his underage sister. Later, he sues them in court for bringing him into the world.

LEBANESE CULTURE AND ARTS
Chris Moussa, winner of Najm Anoujoum Australia, is having a concert on October 14, 2022 in Bankstown Sports Club (The Theatre).
The concert will be for 2 hours, and he will be singing some traditional oriental songs, as well as his newest songs. His siblings Charbel, Wafaa, and Laila will be performing with him too.
It will be an amazing Lebanese Arabic night that will take you back to your roots, and you will remember the beauty of Lebanon through his amazing voice.
