SCIENCE CAMP EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello Pacific Elementary School Families,

I wanted to do an all call for our 6th grade class chaperones as Science Camp is only 1 week away. They are in need of 2 male and 1 female chaperone to support students from October 10th - October 14th in their overnight field trip to Mt. Hermon Outdoor Science School. This would include staying overnight and supporting students in their learning as well as their basic daily activities.
While they are looking forward to it, this is a large problem. This is needed because without chaperones, we are not able to attend and will lose our deposit. This is a great opportunity for students that we want to make sure they have. If you or anyone you know over the age of 18 is available please reach out to Mr. Guerrero at dguerrero@pacificesd.org. Please reach out to anyone you think is available to help. While I know this is a big ask and impossible for some to do with jobs and other responsibilities, please reach out to other family members to help as well.

Thank you for all that you do!
-Mr. Guerrero

Please Sell Drive for School Tickets!

Drive for Schools ticket sales are for sale now.   It's our biggest fundraiser of the year.  100% of all proceeds go to supporting the school funding gap! In order to meet our goal, we need all the tickets sold and turned in! This year, the grand prize is $25,000 plus many, many more prizes! Link to prize list is here.

Drive for school tickets were sent home with tickets on Thursday September 8th.  The tickets are valuable to the school.  Please treat them like cash.  Just asking family and friends if they are interested could result in selling more tickets that you think!  If you need extra tickets, there are some available for pickup in the office. If you are unable to sell the tickets, please return them to the office.

New this year!
The Pacific School Foundation/Parents Club is going to be giving away 2 hats to those that participate or bring back their tickets to the school (that they are unable to sell).
Bring your tickets back early! We are doing 2 drawings for a Pacific School Hat for anyone that brings in their tickets back. One drawing will be held on Sept. 30 and the second drawing will be held on Oct. 14.  If you would like more tickets, please come by the office. Thanks for helping our school!

All tickets, filled ticket stubs and money need to be returned to school by Friday, October 14th.  Any questions, please email Kristen Heady (kekheady@gmail.com.)

In order to maintain our current programs this school year, we need each family to donate $178 per student over the school year. Selling Drive for Schools tickets helps us reach that goal, and as a bonus, everyone has a chance to win $25,000 and other prizes!  100% of the money raised through Drive for Schools goes directly to support our school budget
Inspire Diagnostics will offer a vaccine clinic on 10/5/22
Bivalent Booster
1:00-5:00 in the MU (at school)

Inspire vaccine clinics are happy to offer the updated booster which is also known as the bivalent booster. This booster contains both the monovalent formula and BA4.BA5 omicron strain which equals double the protection. This updated booster will replace the monovalent (i.e. original) booster and is available for all students/staff who are:
  • 12 and older (Pfizer)
  • 18 and older (Moderna)
Students/staff are eligible as long as it has been two months since your last COVID-19 booster (or primary vaccination series) and per CDC guidance, you are at least 2 weeks recovered from testing positive for COVID-19. Please pre-register with Inspire here, regardless if you have had vaccination or antigen/PCR testing with them in the past.

The updated (bivalent) booster for 5-11 year old's is currently being reformulated and will be available sometime towards the end of the Year.   Please note, there is a limited supply and you can not make appointments, it is on a first come- first serve basis, walk-ins welcome. Please bring your vaccine verification card or your digital vaccine record with you.

Should people bring their vaccine cards? Yes, so we can add to it with the new booster/vaccine details and date.

Do people need to be signed up with Inspired? If so, how? Pre-registration for vaccines with us is appreciated or we can do it upon arrival. Pre-register here

Do people need their Inspire card? Inspire cards are not required for vaccinations. If someone would also like to test, then yes - please bring their Inspire card. When doing both on the same day, we recommend testing before vaccination

Sick? Stay Home
Symptomatic students still need to stay home from school. Please review the  Student COVID Flowchart or the County Office of Education's current COVID rules for schools.
Protocol Update

We have fortunately moved out of the recent Covid-18 surge.  That said, Covid is still circulating in our community, and we will continue to follow the 2022-2023 COVID-19 School Guidelines

State College Savings Accounts for Low-Income Students: Eligible Public School Students Can Receive up to $1,500

Eligible Public School Students Can Receive up to $1,500
We are pleased to announce the launch of the California Kids Investment and
Development Savings Program (CalKIDS), a statewide initiative that provides eligible
low-income public school students with a college savings account funded with a
minimum of $500. The State of California created CalKIDS with the goal of helping
families take the first step toward saving for college or career training. To ensure all
eligible families are aware of this important program, we are seeking your help with
sharing information with families in your district and on your campus.
Administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the State of
California that is chaired by the State Treasurer, CalKIDS automatically provides eligible
low-income public school students in grades one through twelve, as designated by the
Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), with the tools to start saving for college,
including an initial deposit in a college savings account.

To access your CalKIDS account, eligible low-income students or their parents will need
to register on the online CalKIDS portal at https://calkids.org/, which requires key
information, including the child’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) or a unique code
included in a notification letter that your family has (or will) receive by mail soon.
