Hi everyone,
Next week we'll informal observations. We hope to be done with at least one informal for all staff by the end of October. During our Grade Level Team/Admin Meetings we will be focusing on seeing group work in your classroom. A schedule of observation times will be sent out. We hope to focus on Reading/LA.
Anybody up for a Faculty Fun Night - check out the email I sent out and let's see if we can coordinate a Black Hawk game or a fancy night at the Lyric Opera to see Fiddler - pearls are optional for either event!
On a separate note we are aware that many of us have family and loved ones in Florida. From what I have heard, we can be thankful that everyone that we know is safe. Although the same cannot be said for property damages. It is going to be a rough few weeks ahead - keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Parents,
Thank you to Mrs. Daly, our school counselor for coordinating our Thorp High School Fair this past Wednesday. We had over 20 high schools show up to meet and greet our students. Each year we send our students to some of the best high schools in the Chicago.
Thank you to the parents that came out to also hear the presentations and met with Mrs. Daly after in the school library about the high school application process. Here are just some of the students who came back to visit us during our High School Fair:
Morning drop-off
Please use both entrances on Grace to drop off your children. Door #7 near the construction fencing and the West Field doors are both open for students. If you are late and see that the door on the West Field is closed (approximately 7:35AM); please drive around and drop your child off on Warwick. Please note that Warwick will be closed each morning until 7:30AM to regular traffic; only buses and parents with students in the Cluster programs are allowed.
On another note, if you take your child out of school before 2:00pm they will be marked as missing a half-day of school. School ends at 2:30pm. Parents please try to schedule doctor appointments after school. Beating the traffic is not a valid excuse to pick up your child early. If you are still having issues with transportation, please let us know. We may be able to help with after-care services if your child has been assigned to a bus route but is not able to receive transportation.
We are working with CPS to minimize the number of robo calls going out to parents. Once you put your child in as absent, the robo call goes out to the home. These are not controlled at the school level. However, a Thorp staff member will call home once your child has been absent for two or more days to make sure that everything is okay.
Have a great week,

Nurse’s Office
Letters went out a couple of weeks ago regarding missing medical compliance forms. Students in grades Kindergarten and Sixth grade need updated immunizations and Certificates of Health in order to attend during the school day. Please note students in sixth grade specifically need Tdap and Meningococcal shots. Forms are needed no later than October 7th, 2022. Contact your doctor's office to have it faxed directly to the school at 773-534-3639, email our nurse at gkelley@cps.edu or send it with your student to be given to the office or the homeroom teacher.
