Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV)

Effect of Righteousness Pt.3

Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah chapter 32 verse 17, saying, "And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever." Indeed, the effect of righteousness did end up to be peace, peace between us and God. Colossians 1:21‭-‬22 also says, "You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent." (CEV) The free gift of righteousness has brought about this peaceful relationship between us and God.

Isn't it amazing that from the moment of man's fall in the Garden of Eden, God had been seeking a way to end the enmity that Adam's disobedience brought about? Such that, even at the point of Jesus' birth, the bible says, "suddenly there appeared with the angel a great multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"" (Luke2:13-14). What good news! God sent Angel's to announce that He no longer had ill-will, but peace and goodwill in His heart towards all men. And when Jesus became of age, God sent Him to demonstrate this peace and goodwill for all to see and experience.

Isaiah in chapter fifty-three had also made it known that God would pour out all the wrath He had for us on Jesus, prophesying, "Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole." (Isaiah 53:4‭-‬5 AMPC)

Now, having died for us on the cross, Romans chapter 5 declares to us the effects of it, "Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God." (Romans 5:1‭, ‬9‭-‬11 NLT)

Beloved, God is no longer angry or at war with us. Righteousness, has resulted in God being friends with us. Little wonder Paul the Apostle, began almost all his letters to the churches with this greeting, "Grace to you and peace from God our Father", further ratifying this truth about the end of all wrath between God and us. Now, you may choose to quarrel with God or stay at odds with Him. Regardless, He has no anger towards you. No more wrath left in Him to pour out on you. Only love! And we can rest, assured that this disposition is not going to change. Thanks to Jesus, today we are friends of God. Hallelujah!
