Our Virtual Fundraiser is Live!

Our annual fundraiser starts today! Please consider making a donation to support our wonderful kids and staff. Fundraising early in the year means we can enhance our current students’ experience.

Take Our Capital Spend Survey

We are excited to kick off this year’s Phantom Ball fundraiser and would like to know how you would like to see this year’s funds spent. Collecting this information early allows us to spend the money during the year, so all of our 6th, 7th and 8th graders benefit!

Please take a few moments to answer this survey. Click here for survey.

Results and plans for spending will be shared at the November general meeting.

Looking to Get Involved at CHMS?

If you enjoy planning events, coordinating volunteers, and enhancing programs and facilities at school, please think about joining the PTO as a Vice President, preferably with a friend! This year we have so many fun events planned: the book fair, stocking the teacher lounges, Pizza Wars, staff appreciation week, 8th grade dinner dance and graduation, and so much more. Our PTO and programs cannot run without more parent volunteers.

If you’re a parent, you’ve had a moment–maybe many of them–when you’ve thought, “How did that conversation go so badly?” William Stixrud, Ph.D., and Ned Johnson have 60 years combined experience talking to kids one-on-one, and the most common question they get when out speaking to parents and educators is: What do you say? Johnson and Stixrud show how to engage in respectful and effective dialogue, suggest new ways to handle specific thorny topics, and provide a manual and map for communicating more effectively with your child.

This event is free and open to all. If you are interested in attending, please register in advance by using the registration links.

Does Your Child Need Mental Health, Learning or Behavioral Support?

The Parent List contains first-hand insight from D86, D181 and D63 parents about area providers that have helped address their child’s anxiety; depression; school avoidance; eating disorders; insomnia; peer relations; grief; stress; ADD/ADHD; autism spectrum and more.

The Parent List was created 7 years ago in response to the suicide of a local student with the goal of streamlining the process of and decreasing the stress around connecting with a provider. The Parent List is comprised of helpful resources in our community that have already been used by a parent experiencing similar concerns to you. Doctors, therapists, support groups, inpatient and outpatient programs, tutors, nutritionists, books and holistic medical approaches may all be reviewed on The Parent List.

To read existing Parent List reviews, go to hcpto.org/parent-list/

Much like Angie’s List, The Parent List relies on consumer feedback. We need fresh reviews to keep the list current. Please consider leaving your own brief, anonymous review of a provider who made a positive difference in your child’s well-being on The Parent List.

To help another local parent by leaving your anonymous review click HERE

In no way does the Hinsdale Central High School or Clarendon Hills Middle School (CHMS) PTOs, Hinsdale Central High School or CHMS staff, school districts 86, 63 or 181 endorse or recommend any specific provider reviewed on The Parent List. The Parent List is a subjective forum set up by the Hinsdale Central PTO for your convenience. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for deciding to use any of the service providers on The Parent List in any capacity, and district 86, district 63, district 181 and the Hinsdale Central and CHMS PTOs disclaim all liability for any damages, injuries, losses, expenses, or claims of any kind arising out of the provision of services by anyone or any agency appearing on The Parent List.
