A weekly newsletter from the Kendall Square Association
This week, Kendall innovations and inventors take center stage. The return of cultural icons, the newly renovated MIT Museum and Cambridge Science Festival, underscores the importance of community connection. Not only are we returning to offices, but we're returning to a new, more vibrant and accessible Kendall Square.

Also in this issue: Kendall's cultural attractions, centering sustainability, a look at The Engine's new headquarters and more.
 The Big Story

Broad Discovery Center has Arrived

This week, as a part of the Cambridge Science Festival, the Broad Discovery Center will give the public a sneak peek at Kendall's new museum. This interactive, public educational space features five galleries that showcase how researchers in Kendall Square and around the world are seeking to understand and treat human disease.

Within the galleries, visitors can engage with digital touchscreens to hear from a variety of researchers and dive deeper into the Broad Institute's current work and key discoveries. All content is targeted towards teens and adults, and will be updated periodically to reflect new progress and research directions. The space will officially open on October 31.

People who work in Kendall Square don’t just come here for a job. They come here because they believe in a mission – that together, we can make the world a lot better. KSA looks forward to continuing our partnership with Broad Discovery Center and to advancing the work of ensuring this is a welcoming, engaging space for all, for many years to come.

Say Oui, to Batifol

Kendall's culinary scene just got a bit more chic with new restaurant, Batifol. The new French concept at 291 Third Street, boasts classic French recipes and clever cocktails – perfect for lunch, dinner, after hours or brunch!

LabCentral 238

With 100,000 square-foot of lab space, and capacity for up to 13 early-to-mid stage companies, LabCentral 238 supports the transition from R&D bench-scale science into scalable production of pre-clinical material in anticipation of biomanufacturing. This newest Kendall lab space opens October 6

 Heard in Kendall

“If MIT is world-changing, then its work needs to be out there in the wider community, and the wider community needs to be able to access and understand it, and to ask questions about how we’re going to apply all this new knowledge and innovation to make the world a better place. ”

 – MIT Museum Director John Durant

The MIT Museum celebrated Cambridge residents by hosting a special preview this past Saturday. The new museum, which opened yesterday, is designed to be surprising and welcoming, but also to provoke conversations about how unfolding innovations should shape the world.
