September 2022 Update

Welcome to the Loved & Shared Newsletter. It has been another busy month for us, read on to learn what we have been up to...

Gift childhood and nursery goods to vulnerable families to help them raise thriving children.

Partner with community groups and services to coordinate the distribution of gifted goods.

Refurbish and re-home quality children’s goods to reduce landfill.

What's been happening at Loved & Shared...

Thank you to Steve Laidlaw from Occupational Health & Safety Services, South West Victoria – Generously providing pro bono OHS consultancy.

Thank you Alex Pye from Alex Pye Electrics! Alex and his team have completed all electrical installations and modifications to our site including solar installation, heating, fans and other electrics. Thank you for your generous in-kind contributions.

Big accolades must again go to the Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central! Our wall lining is complete, with 3 coats of paint. Rotarians were onsite in September over 3 nights completing the painting. Their team has made an invaluable contribution to Loved & Shared.

Rotarians enjoy some hard-earned pizza and refreshments!

A big thank you to Rotarian Brendan O'Neill. Brendan has been helping with additional handyman jobs including building and installing a kitchen bench top, installing our first aid kit, installing our cleaning racks and installing a toilet roll holder amongst other things! Thanks Brendan!

Our Loved & Shared Board Chair, Felicity Melican getting her hands dirty and showing us how it's done!

Feona from sister organisation ‘Big Group Hug’ based in Melbourne visited our warehouse this month – a big thank you to Feona and Big Group Hug for your generous support over the last couple of months.

Our Regional Need

20% of the population aged 0-8 in the region are considered vulnerable on 1 or more of the 5 critical childhood development criteria, this is significantly higher than the state average.

We aim to save 3+ tonnes of good quality items going to landfill every year.

Local data from four LGAs (Warrnambool, Moyne, Southern Grampians & Corangamite), confirm that 1 in 5 children live in poverty.

Loved & Shared is a community project initiated by Leadership Great South Coast 2020 Program Participants.

Please forward this on to anyone who might be interested. We are keen to build up our distribution list prior to recruitment of volunteers.
