While not visible, significant progress has been made. Among the work to date: A sub terrain storm water drainage system has been installed with 7 new catch basins and 4 manhole structures along with hundreds of feet of drainpipe. Approximately 2,000 feet of underground conduits have been trenched and installed to support the new lighting and electrical demands. New precast foundations have been installed for the pedestrian light posts along the Chapel Street and Highland Avenue sides of the Common to accommodate the new layout.
Unfortunately, the Town has experienced some material delays due to current supply chain issues with steel and electrical components. We are awaiting structural steel for the new shade structures along with the structure-specific foundation anchor bolts. The delay on receiving these items has notably stalled visual progress, but we anticipate these components will arrive in the coming week. Because these pieces require deep foundations to be installed, that work must be done before finished hardscaping and landscaping can take place above ground. The community can expect to see work pick up quickly over the next month. Substantial completion of the work is still anticipated by the end of this year, with the grand opening and dedication taking place Spring of 2023. | | | Library Offering Limited Inscriptions to Raise Funds, Mark 20th Anniversary | | In celebration of the Library Foundation of Needham's (LFN) 20th anniversary, the Foundation is offering a unique fundraising campaign. Residents can dedicate an inscription on the Library's glass balustrade which surrounds the second floor main staircase and windows. Space is limited, so act soon. To participate visit the Library Foundation’s website. |
