Winnetka Futures Online Open House through October 14
If you couldn’t make it to the Community Open House for the Winnetka Futures 2040 Comprehensive Plan, there’s still a chance to share your thoughts and feedback through an Online Open House, which will run through Friday, October 14. Share your thoughts, ideas, and priorities for our community and give feedback on the work that the Lakota Group has undertaken with the Village and the Plan Commission over many months. Please spread the word to family and friends that there’s still time to contribute thoughts and ideas to the vision for our community.
Public Safety Open House is October 15
On Saturday, October 15 from 10 AM to 1 PM, the Winnetka Fire and Police Departments will be hosting their annual Public Safety Building Open House at 428 Green Bay Road in recognition of Fire Prevention Week. This event is for the whole family. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the fire engine, ambulance, police vehicles up-close, watch a real vehicle extrication, and use a real fire hose to put out a pretend fire. While the police department will not be available for tours, select police personnel will be on hand to conduct child safety seat inspections and installations.
Leaf Collection Begins October 17
The Village’s annual curbside leaf collection will begin October 17 and will run through November 28. The last day to place leaves on your parkway for collection is by 7 AM on Monday, November 28. Leaves placed on the parkway after 7 AM on November 28 may not be collected.

Please do not rake leaves into the street, as leaves clog storm sewers, leading to flooded streets and yards. If you hire a service to handle your leaves, please inform them of this request. Also, please do not park in front of leaf piles, when possible, to enable the Village to easily access them.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day: October 29
The Winnetka Police Department is again partnering with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration to participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which is an opportunity for the public to safely discard unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs. On Saturday, October 29 from 10 AM to 2 PM, a disposal box will be in the lobby of the Police Department at 410 Green Bay Road. Members of the public may drop their unwanted prescription drugs in the box with no questions asked. Additional information about the program can be found on the DEA's website.
