Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

  • PVCC has a number of employers who recruit on campus during the week in the Student Center in the Main Campus Building. TODAY, Monday, October 3, both United Parcel Service (UPS) and Vector Marketing will be available between 11:30am - 1:30pm. On Tuesday, 10/4, The Loft Store will be recruiting between 10:30am - 12:30pm.  Stop by and ask them about their part-time and full-time job opportunities! 
  • Interested in learning more about climate change today, Monday, 10/3 at 12:00 noon?  PVCC One Book is hosting two "How to Advocate for Climate Change" speakers: Tammi Erwin (interfaith Center for Public Policy) and Tim Cwyinski (Sierra Club). Join them in Room M229.
  • Attention PVCC graphic design students / alumni (or anyone interested in creative careers). Tuesday Design Society is hosting THREE events this week! In addition to their regular Tuesday (10/4) meetup, they are hosting a designer mixer at Champion Brewing on Wednesday (10/5) and on Thursday (10/6), they're having a film screening to watch, "Eames: The Architect and Painter." Register in advance for each.
  • Attention RNs/LPNs interested in working in Richmond.  Bon Secours is hosting a New Grad Interview Summit on Tuesday, October, 4, 12-3 and 4-7 p.m. for those who will be graduating in December (or have recently graduated). Advance registration required. 
  • Are you interested in learning about or becoming a part of Virginia's growing wine industry?  PVCC is hosting a virtual Program Spotlight on their Viticulture & Enology programs on Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30pm. Registration required.
  • The Virginia Employment Commission is hosting a "Live, Love & Work Virtual Job Fair" on Wednesday, October 5, 10am-2pm. A LARGE number of employers from around the state participate in this event.  Advance registration required.  
  • CareerEco is hosting a Virtual Law Enforcement & Security Career Fair on Thursday, October 6, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Advance registration required. 
  • Attention techies - there are a number of upcoming events just for you! Easily meet like-minded people at any / all of these free events On Wednesday, Charlottesville, Technologists hosts a "First Wednesday" Meet-up on October 5, 8:00 p.m.  On Friday, October 7, 1-5pm,  GA-CCRi is hosting a free Community Hackathon on Friday, October 7, 1-5pm at 3Twenty3 in Downtown Charlottesville. Last but not least, beCamp is hosting a tech "un-conference" to talk about technical issues that YOU ALL determine during the Friday night, October 14, meeting at 5:00 p.m. You don't need to be an expert in a subject to suggest it for discussion!  After topics have been voted on, volunteers dive in and arrange Saturday's schedule. Check out the video on the website about the event to get a sense of this event. Food provided!  Free, but please register!
  • Mark your calendar for Western State Hospital's Job Fair on Wednesday, October 12, 3-7pm in Staunton. They are hiring for both part-time or full-time healthcare professionals: RNs (minimum of $69,000; up to $5000 sign-on bonus), LPNs (minimum $47,000, up to $2500 sign-on bonus), and Psychiatric Technicians ($20.74/hour).
