President's Message
Welcome to Fall! Greetings to all our Glendale Art Association audience. We are continuing a new art year and new adventures are opening up for us. Betsy Avila is still out of town. I have taken the position of vice president and Helena Bowman and I will help her learn all the details of the job once she returns. We have started some planning but would love to have more input/ideas from our members, so please tell us or send us your ideas and information.
Our September meeting was a great success with a demonstration by Kathryn Hansen with tips about pencil art. Everyone enjoyed the information she gave us, and being able to view her intricate work in person.

For our October 13th meeting we will be getting ready for our Spring show with a flower/still life painting session. Please bring the art supplies you would like to work with(paints, paper or canvas, and brushes). We will have easels, chairs and tables set up for you and still-life set-ups. You may bring photos or flowers to work from too.
The GAA show at the Makery in downtown Los angeles will be from March 10th to April 9th with a first Friday event advertised in downtown L.A.(April 7th) We will have a sign up sheet on Thursday. We will be discussing themes and titles for our show. If we receive enough entries we can award prizes as well.
Dulce Stein has signed up for her Feria de las Flores show in April, which is an open show, right after the GAA show .

1. From the Santa Paula show, Diane C. won an honorable mention and Vivianne B. sold an art work.
2. George S. will be teaching painting classes in Panama, starting in Feb., for 6 weeks.
3. Vince T. taught on the Queen Victoria cruise ship for 30 days, making 4 trips around the Mediterranean. He should have some interesting stories for us.
4. Shree H. and Dick H. participated in La Casita Del Arroyo Park show and each sold 2 paintings. Congratulations!
