Our first Principle states that we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person. How practical is this principle, and is it possible to live according to it? We will explore this in stories and in our spiritual challenge. Children are invited to stay for the whole service! And don't forget to bring a can of food for the Little Free Pantry!

Next Week's Service
Reconnection: The Grout Between the Cracks

As we think about Regeneration, our pandemic inspired theme for the year, we begin with examining how we reconnect with each other. We have spent the past few years apart, physically and spiritually. Coming back together can be regenerative if we do this with thought and intention. We will think about ourselves as the substance between the bricks, the grout that holds the whole.

Sunday Times Stories of the Journey
11:35am - 12:30pm
Second Sundays
Starting October 9
Conference Room
This year, we plan to include your stories in our Sunday services. Similar to "Story Corp" or "This I Believe," this will be an opportunity for members of our community to share important parts of their life with the rest of us. We are calling it "Stories of the Journey" because we want this to reflect how you have found meaning in your life. We will have some writing prompts and practice sessions, then teach everyone how to record themselves so we can show them during services.

Caring Team
The Caring Team invites new people to join us each month as we gather to find ways to support members of the community. We send cards, make phone calls, visit and arrange meals for those who need to feel loved and included. If you want to share your caring self with others, please join us. The more folk who come, the more love we share! Contact Janet Kuller, who leads this group.

Little Free Pantry & Second Sunday
The second Sunday of each month will be a full multi-generational service. This means we welcome children to stay with everyone for the full service and will have Activity Bags in the foyer for those who might benefit.
As part of this service, there will be a Food Collection each month. Everyone is invited to bring in non-perishable foods that we will place in our new Little Free Pantry. The children and youth will collect the food during the service and bring it to the collection basket.
Please remember to pick up an extra can or box of food at the store so we can fill our pantry! Suggestions include: canned meat (tuna, spam, etc.), cereal, canned fruit or vegetables, peanut butter, pasta.

Choir practice is on Sundays from 12:45 - 2:15 pm, weekly. If you would like childcare during choir practice, please contact Margaret Rogers.

Sorrows
Chuck Bean asked me to pass on the news that his brother, Warren Bean, died. Warren was a member of Northlake some years ago, and we will hold his memory in our heart.

Florida Hurricane Relief Fund
Hurricane Ian bore down on Florida Wednesday with devastating force. The Category 4 storm's 150-mph winds and 12-foot storm surge cut wide swaths of destruction.
Thousands of Floridians have been affected. While the impact of the storm's destruction is still being assessed, we already know that the UU Congregation of Fort Myers building and campus received significant damage—at least $20,000 worth. The UU Congregation of Venice has cancelled its Sunday Service because it is currently without power.
The UUA Disaster Relief Fund is here for congregations affected by the storm, but we need your help now. The fund is near depletion and we have only just begun receiving urgent requests from congregations.
Rev. Sue Gabrielson in Fort Myers says, "We suspect every member of the congregation has experienced substantial loss of income and property. Some have had total losses—their homes and property washed away. Our people will need support for housing, clothing, and basic needs as well as money for repairs."
The UUA’s Disaster Relief Fund is a concrete, material way that we show up and support our fellow UU’s and their communities in the wake of these growing climate disasters.

Online Art Open Studio
Tuesdays, 6:30pm
Join us Tuesday evenings between 6:30 and 8 pm on zoom. This is an opportunity to set aside time for engaging with art and craft, whether you are a professional or drawing stick figures! Come find joy and soothe your spirit while gathering in community with others.
The conversation ranges from time to share our projects with one another (and get feedback or ideas if requested), to sharing what's going on in our hearts and lives.
