Regional Update: South Africa Recovery Walk
Globally, September is celebrated as Recovery Month. This year the ICUDDR South African Chapter's newly formed outreach and advocacy working committee joined hundreds of people for the 8th Recovery Walk held in Cape Town, South Africa, on the 17th of September. The Recovery Walk is an annual event of people who are in recovery, supportive of recovery, working in private and public mental health facilities, as well as non-profit organizations who all gather together and walk in solidarity to celebrate the recovery from addictions and mental illnesses and challenge the associated stigma. Rehana Kader and Warren Cornelius (who is also one of the organizers of the Recovery Walk) represented ICUDDR SA at the event.  ICUDDR South Africa is planning on further collaboration with the Recovery Walk committee as part of our outreach and advocacy efforts.
