My path to working in a library has been simultaneously consistent and circuitous. Since I was a teenager, with the exception of a few years, I have worked or volunteered in bookstores and libraries. Much of my life path has been driven by a love of learning coupled with being immersed in library spaces. After years of studying and following ever evolving interests I realized libraries might be the most comprehensive respresentation of my interests and what gives my life meaning. Libraries are socially and historically fascinating institutions, both successfully optimistic and troubling problematic. I enjoy the challenge of thinking through those dynamics, particularly because librarianship is fundamentally a collaborative and creative endeavor and especialy because it is in service to community.

Frankenstein on DigitalTheatre+

Need something spooky to watch this month? Check out Frankenstein on DigitalTheatre+. The Blackeyed Theater production, directed by Eliot Giuralarocca, tells Mary Shelly's story through the use of puppets and actors! Watching Frankenstein's monster come alive from the table is both jarring and thrilling. The actors must operate and engage with the monster puppet the entire play, lending a very eerie tone to the piece. This play has themes of dark academia, ambition, revenge, creation, and death. If you are a fan of the book, this retelling will be sure to have you on the edge of your
seat!

Who was Lyn Ford? Want to read a story that perfectly encapsulates experiences of an Australian prisoner who escaped and found a new life in India? Shantaram, one of my favorite books, will make you experience life in 1980’s Bombay. From the representation of congested slums and life in the city to the unapologetic functioning of the underworld, this book has it all. It creates a chaotic yet beautiful imagery of Lyn’s life and gives us moments of deep realizations, trauma, romance and much more.
