WATERSHED STAKEHOLDER NEWS

Watershed Updates

Hello neighbors! We want to share a few exciting updates from the past three months on the ground in the Shoal Creek Watershed:
  • Work has progressed at the rain garden at Shoal Creek Boulevard and Woodview; most of the Bermuda grass turf is out, and we hope to begin planting native plants there this November with the help of our volunteers.
  • We led 6 creek cleanup events (3 in response to the August flood), 2 riparian buffer zone workdays, and 2 creek tours.
  • We have continued to partner with TOOF (The Other Ones Foundation) to carry out weekly cleanups of lower Shoal Creek.
  • We are partnering with Texas Conservation Corps to carry out ecological restoration work between 10th and 12th streets, between the Shoal Creek Trail and the creek.
  • We hosted our first GSI workshop- a Waterwise Landscapes workshop for Creekside Neighbors, at Reilly Elementary!
  • We have a full slate of fall volunteer opportunities coming up!

Next Steering Committee Meeting- October 25th

Our next quarterly Steering Committee meeting will be held virtually at 1pm on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022. Steering committee meetings are open to all watershed stakeholders. Registration, meeting link, and agenda can be found here
