Update on Fladbury Church
We are hopeful of getting back into the church during the week of 7th November, following repairs to the pinnacle on the church tower. Only when scaffolding is erected (scheduled for 1st November, weather permitting) shall we know the extent of the damage and the condition of all the tower pinnacles and turrets. Repairs to a separate issue with timber inside the bell tower will follow the work on the outside. Our priority is to be able to use the main building of the church. We anticipate the cost of scaffolding and repairs to exceed £5,000 (+VAT) though until a high-level inspection is carried out and we know what work is required, this figure is a very rough estimate. The usual first Sunday service will, this month, be at Cropthorne.
A Service to Remember Loved Ones
A service dedicated to remembering loved ones; also known as an All Souls' Service will be on Sunday 30th October at 4pm at St John the Evangelist Church, Charlton. It is a short service with hymns, prayer, an opportunity to light a candle in memory of loved ones and reflect. All are welcome.
"A Service of Light" marks the beginning of Advent on Sunday 27th November at 6pm at Fladbury Church. A candlelit service with Advent carols and readings telling the story of Christ's coming. A good start to Christmas preparations.
Thank you everyone who contributed to The Harvest Appeal. Financial donations for Farm Africa from The Five Alive Parish and Bishampton with Throckmorton totalled £1,521. Donations of food for Pershore Foodbank from the Five Alive exceeded 47kg, which roughly equates to 110 meals.
Thank you to all who organised and supported Charlton's Autumn Fair last Saturday which raised £580 which will be split £290 each for Charlton Church Fabric Fund and the Joseph Baker Workman Charity for the upkeep of the Old Schoolroom.

The Five Village Proms
Refunds
Mark Blackwell writes:
I am very conscious that people have bought tickets for the concert last Friday that we had to postpone due to the issues with the church tower and I have not followed this up.
At present we are agreeing a new date, which will likely be the end of January or March, but we are not in a position to announce until the timescale for the work required on the church is resolved.
With respect to refunds:
- for people who bought tickets from Eventbrite your monies should have already been refunded earlier this week;
- for those who purchased from the Fladbury Pie Shop they will refund your monies on presentation of your ticket or alternatively you can hold onto the ticket and use it for the next concert; if, when the new date is announced, you can't make it you can still request a refund.
Apologies for the delay in notifying you of this.
Contact Mark, email: Mark@mhrconsultancy.co.uk or tel: 07768 146879.

Planning Application off Broadway Lane
Applicants have appealed
Ian writes:
As many of you will know, the application for 34 affordable homes on a site off Broadway Lane was refused by Wychavon in September. However, the anticipated appeal by the applicants has been notified.
It is likely to be heard by the Planning Inspectorate in December and is scheduled for three to four days. The appeal is against Wychavon's decision but your Parish Council plans to attend and participate in the appeal process. How this will work exactly is yet to be defined; however, we will keep you advised as the matter unfolds over the coming weeks.

Fladbury Walkabout Update
Maintaining the fabric of our church
Ian writes:
After two years away, the 2022 Fladbury Walkabout roared back with a very successful event.
As you know, part of the profits go to maintaining the fabric of our beautiful church building and the Walkabout is pleased to announce that the Parochial Church Council will be receiving a cheque for £8,400. This is particularly vital at this point in time as there is a serious problem with some of the masonry on the church tower which resulted in the recently scheduled concert having to be postponed.

Fladbury & Cropthorne Bellringers
When do we practice?
John writes:
We are a band comprising mostly people new to ringing. We’ve been learning since April, with tremendous support from local towers and, most importantly, our local communities. Getting sufficient rope-time is important to us to bring us up to standard for ringing for weddings and services at both St John's Fladbury and St Michael's Cropthorne.
Normally the band practise on Thursday evenings, 7-9pm at St John's with the aim of doing one Thursday in the month at St Michael's. However, with St John's being off limits in the short term, there is currently no normal.
To get more rope-time, we are thinking about practicing more at St Michael's Cropthorne but moving to an earlier time. This may well be 6.30-8pm on Tuesday evenings. Whatever we do we will do our best to keep you informed.
In the meantime, thank you for your continued patience and forbearance. If you have any concerns please get in touch.

Christmas Shopping Night at Ocean blue
Monday 14th November, 5-8pm
|
|
It's that time of year again, where I have decided to plan another Christmas Shopping Night in the hairdressers, on Monday 14th November 5-8pm.
During the evening you will be able to enjoy a glass of fizz & nibbles, browse gifts, have the opportunity to have your nails done, enter a charity raffle, and explore my new makeup range with Viv from Mii cosmetics.
I just wanted to put on a little occasion to share a bit of festive cheer and to re-engage with one another especially after the last couple of years.
I would love it if you put this date in your diary and please come join me during the evening.
Please let me know if you would be interested, just to accommodate numbers for the evening.
