Intro to Video Editing with Adobe Rush

November 1, 10-11:30am and November 2, 3-4:30pm
Location: NS 245 and on Zoom
https://iu.zoom.us/j/92194551377

Are you spending too much time editing video? Are you frustrated with importing media into your videos? Is audio editing driving you mad? This workshop will ensure participants leave with a working knowledge of how to import, export and edit their videos for their classes.
Attendees will be expected to have access to a computer with Adobe Rush installed. See this link to the KnowledgeBase for more information.
Attendees will have access to video and audio assets so that everyone can work on the same project at the same time.
Both sessions of this workshop will be fully hybrid and have both a face-to-face option as well as an online option.

UCET Dossier Prep Groups

If you will be submitting a dossier for promotion to Senior Lecturer, Teaching Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Clinical Senior Lecturer, or Clinical Associate Professor in August 2023, you are invited to join a sponsored group that can help you put together a dossier that presents your case in the best light possible. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact David Blouin, UCET Career Mentor, dblouin@iusb.edu.
The last meeting for fall, we will meet in NS 245 at the following time:

1)      Friday, November 11, 3:00-4:00 All promotion cases

PlayPosit Workshop

Wednesday, November 30, 12-1pm, NS 245 & on
Zoom (https://iu.zoom.us/j/92194551377), Amy Pawlosky

How would you like to punch up ANY video on Kaltura or YouTube with engaging interactions referencing your content? Provide on-the-spot robust questioning, asynchronous student discussions or student note taking that you, the instructor, can review. PlayPosit is your solution. It provides ways for instructors to overlay questions and other interactions at any point on the video timeline. You can gauge student engagement and retention and see if they are really watching the video. Come to the next PlayPosit workshop to see a demonstration and try your hand at creating a PlayPosit interaction video. Bring a laptop if you want to create one during the workshop. Please register at UCET@iusb.edu.

Spring Course Design Institute

(Dates TBD)

Are you designing or revising a course? Want to know more about the best practices of face-to-face and online delivery? Join UCET’s Course Design Institute (CDI) to learn the latest technological tools and pedagogical philosophies as you work on your own course. As an added incentive, eligible faculty may receive up to $1000 for their professional development.

Spring Creative Grading Toolbox Institute

(Dates TBD)

Can grading be fun? Yes! Expand your toolbox of grading techniques in this institute. Also, a chance to find out from colleagues what works for them. This is being co-led by the UCET Assistant Director, Jay VanderVeen and a faculty member (TBD).

Spring Teaching for Student Success Institute - Active Learning

(Dates TBD, Online)

Join your colleagues in working through the Teaching for Student Success Active Learning Modules. Building on what we've learned through efforts like IU's Mosaic Initiative, the active learning modules address day-to-day practices that help both instructors and students engage meaningfully in active learning classrooms. These modules cover a variety of contexts, from simple active learning strategies focused on reading, note-taking, and information literacy to high-impact educational practices and extensive collaborative projects. This is being led by the UCET Assistant Director, Jay VanderVeen.
