2022 STRATEGIC PLAN

Mission, Values, and Goals
Taking stock of who we are as an agency and the direction we’re heading is something we continually keep top of mind. And this year we took a deeper dive to refresh how we define our organization and stay true to our purpose.

Members of the Mobility Authority’s Board of Directors and staff
participated in a three-phased
approach of information gathering, needs analysis and benchmarking, and strategic goal-setting to develop the new Strategic Plan.

And from this thoughtful and comprehensive framework, the Mobility Authority aims to build on its efforts to be the most trusted and effective provider of transportation options that enhance the quality of life in Central Texas. The Mobility Authority passed its 2022 Strategic Plan at the September 28 Board of Directors meeting and it is now available to view online.
Core Values
Through the strategic planning process, the Mobility Authority has established a new set of core values that not only encapsulate who were are as an agency but also how we will fulfill our mission to develop, deliver, operate and maintain high-quality roadways and related transportation solutions.

Collaboration | Transportation and related resources are limited in our region, so it is critical that we work effectively in partnership with others. To protect the quality of life for Central Texans and maximize the use of resources, we prioritize a collaborative, regional approach to working with other regional transportation partners to deliver our work efficiently and effectively.

Innovation | The growth of Central Texas demands innovation. To continue to provide reliable transportation options that meet ever-changing needs, we must be open and nimble to any innovation that can advance our outcomes for the Central Texas public.

Safety | Safety is woven into the fabric of our agency. All Mobility Authority plans, policies, protocols, implementations, etc. have safety at their core, helping to ensure we deliver safe and reliable transportation options for the people of Central Texas.

Service | All people of Central Texas are at the center of everything we do and we know they count on the roads and services we manage. We strive to always deliver on their high expectations. We work hard to make every customer interaction supportive, informative and positive. We are committed to being the trusted provider that our region deserves.

Stewardship | We know that we have been entrusted with people’s time, money, and even lives, as well as the region’s precious environmental and related assets, and accordingly we take very seriously our responsibility to steward well all of the resources that go into or are affected by our work.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

Stay Alert, Save a Life

As National Pedestrian Safety Month comes to a close, it's important to remember that all road users must always practice safe and responsible travel behavior. Together, we can work towards Vision Zero.

Driver Safety Tips
  • Obey the Speed Limit. Make sure you are aware of the posted speed limit and don’t rush. Speeding will not substantially decrease the time it takes to reach your destination, but it can significantly raise the risk of a wreck.
  • Reduce Distractions. That text, call, song, or breakfast taco can wait until you get to your destination.
  • Avoid erratic or aggressive driving behavior. This includes swerving, weaving in and out of traffic, passing on the right, and accelerating or braking suddenly. Rapidly switching lanes to try to get ahead of the traffic is very dangerous as people on and off the road cannot predict what you're going to do.
  • Pedestrians have the right of way. Do not block crosswalks when you stop at intersections. And take extra care while driving around schools, playgrounds, and neighborhoods.
Pedestrian Safety Tips
  • Stay Alert. Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up in parking lots. If you’re listening to music, make sure it’s at a volume that you can still hear what's going on around you.
  • Use sidewalks and crosswalks. Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever they are available. If there are none, walk facing traffic, as far from moving vehicles as possible, and wait for a gap in traffic that allows plenty of time to cross safely.
  • Obey signs and signals. Pay attention to “Walk” and “Don’t Walk” signs and lights and continue to cross as quickly as possible if the sign changes when you are already crossing the street.
Halloween is the deadliest holiday for pedestrians. And when it falls on a weekday, the average increase in fatal crashes jumps a frightening 16.3 percent compared to the average fatal crashes on the same, non-holiday days. Stay alert and cautious whether you’re behind the wheel or walking neighborhoods.
