Street Groups out of hibernation and ready for action

Let’s touch base again through our system of street groups. We know that emergencies can happen at any time and we need to be prepared.

We are working with Emergency Services experts who want us all to be clued-up with the information we are sending out via our street group coordinators.

Some residents have recently moved out of the area and a few streets do not have an active coordination team. Please volunteer, with a friend or two, to keep the contact list and info for your street. Email plimmertonra@gmail.com

In any emergency the professionals need to know who in your street is vulnerable and where they should put their first efforts to save lives.

Actions for everyone

Please work with your street group to develop a confidential list in your group of people who live alone, have disabilities, have young children and pets, and any other vulnerabilities that your group think important. Share this information only with those neighbours involved.

All members of street groups are asked to get thinking about the five things we are faced with after during any emergency, medical attention, shelter, water, food, and sanitation.

You will find discussion points and actions here.

We are revising the emergency plan for Plimmerton. The points in the link above are from some of the key areas covered in that plan.

If you have ideas and would like to contribute please contact plimmertonra@gmail.com This plan could help your family and friends to survive the next emergency event.

Check here to see if your street has a group up and running. If it doesn’t, then please work with a friend or two to get one cracking.

Community Menzshed powered up

The plumbing works and the power is connected. The Menzshed team is moving back into their newly moved shed at the entrance to Plimmerton Domain (through the underpass). There is still a lot of work going on around them as the paths and landscaping leading to the new ramps and underpass access are completed. But soon they will be back in action. They are looking at contracts for all sorts of work so if you have skills to share and time to spare now is a great time to join the team.

Plimmerton Residents’ Association needs supporters

If you are nearly or newly retired and looking for an interesting part-time task then contact us please. We have several pressure-free enjoyable projects that will enable you to use your skills and meet people in your community.

· Emergency plan and emergency hub document revision is ongoing and we need someone who can pull this together. This is important work. Want to know more? We’ll talk to you.  plimmertonra@gmail.com

· First Aid courses for street groups. Could you liaise with the organisation offering first aid courses for residents and with our street group coordinators? You will meet some stand-out people who do great community work.

· Street group liaison is interesting and you will again meet great people, You will be working with PRA’s communications team and residents to strengthen and build our street groups.

We urgently need people to help us in these roles to achieve the goals set in our 2021-2022 Village Plan.
