  • Drop by the Program Office and Trick or Treat PO staffs' favorite candy.
  • No costumes required, but we might have you say "trick or treat"!
  • Just a reminder that Chou and Cheit Halls are zero waste and candy wrappers should be disposed of in the landfill bins in the Courtyard!

Underhill Lot Advisory: Cal Men's Basketball Games in Nov
Nov 2, 7, 21, 30
  • If you normally park in Underhill, N/W Permits will only be valid on Underhill Levels 3 & 4 on game days. Games are in the evening (6 or 7PM) on the following dates: Nov 2, 7, 21, 30; Dec 7, 10.
  • The area immediately around Haas is not affected, please expect traffic along Bancroft Ave to Downtown Berkeley on game days.
  • Full game day parking rules here.

Training the Street: Corporate Valuation
Sunday Nov 6, 9AM-1PM PT, Zoom link provided to those who register
  • Billl Rindfuss, Executive Director, Strategic Programs, Haas Finance Group, and CMG would like to share a course via Training the Street.
  • Corporate Valuation: A Primer to Real-World Methodologies will cover practical examples and real-world exercises to illustrate the fundamentals of popular valuation techniques used by finance practitioners.
  • The session is open to all MBA/EWMBA students, but please register for the Corporate Valuation course only if you know that you can attend. Review the one pager for the Corporate Valuation course here.

Spring 2023 Core Schedule Posted
  • The Spring 2023 Core Schedule is now available.
  • Blue & Gold, please also note that 203 Intro to Finance will still meet over Spring Break as a Combined Cohort Day on Monday Mar 27. 

Core Waiver Exams for Spring 2023 Classes
  • The testing window will be in Dec 2022, following the same process as Fall 2022 waiver exams.
  • Review the Waiver Exam Guidelines > Spring for specifics, including what documentation to provide for courses eligible for automatic waiver (e.g. 202 Financial Reporting, 203 Intro to Finance).

Parking & Transportation - Major Advisory - Football Game
  • Park in the University Extension or Genetics Lot!
  • Piedmont Ave and Stadium Rim Way close 2 hours before kick-off, so ~10AM this week.
  • Carpool or take public transportation if possible.
  • Complete Football Saturday Logistics here.

Upcoming Traffic Advisory
Greek Theatre Concert on Nov 5
  • Pedestrian and vehicle traffic starts around 5PM and lasts through 7PM.
  • While you should be able to park in Berkeley Law Lot, please be advised that Bowles will be closed and there will be increased pedestrian traffic in the area.

Spring 2023 EWMBAA Executive Team Elections
  • Elections are held for the positions of President, Executive Vice President, EVP Marketing & EVP Finance (all other VP roles are selected by the new team in Jan 2023). 
    • Submit candidacy materials to ewmbaa-haas@berkeley.edu by Tuesday Nov 1 by 11:59PM PT.
    • List of candidates will be published in next week’s Bear Necessities.
    • There will be a campaigning period and voting will run Nov 7-13.
    • You may run and campaign as a team, but each position is elected separately.

Visible Hands Accelerator

What do they offer?
The 14-week Visible Hands virtual-first accelerator provides you with the opportunity to work alongside exceptional founders. You receive access to funding, curated communities, and hands-on company building support. Each founder or company receives an initial $25,000 pre-seed investment to enable you to work full-time on building your startup. After the program is over, you have the opportunity to apply for additional funding up to $150,000.

Whom does it benefit?
Students working on early-stage startups who can commit to building their startup full-time for the entirety of the program. The program is focused on founders from gender and/or racially underrepresented communities in tech.

  • Join us for this interactive lab where you will learn strategies for updating and strengthening your LinkedIn Profile. After learning some tips and best practices, you will have the opportunity to share your LinkedIn profile in small groups and get feedback from your peers.

  • Come learn how to get your interview off to a great start by learning to craft and structure your response to the infamous "Tell Me About Yourself" question in this step by step process.

    • Have opportunities to practice
    • Get feedback and refine

  • Join us for the 4th Annual CALpital Connections with Cal Alumnus Robert Paylor. In the 2017 Collegiate Rugby National Championship, playing for Cal, Robert broke his neck and his life changed in an instant.
