Dear Friends,

Sustainable Newton is undertaking our annual fundraising campaign and we need your help! As you may know, Sustainable Newton is a non-profit organization that strives to create a world where people and the planet are as important as profits and where future generations matter. We drive solution-oriented local responses to the global issues of climate change and sustainability by building awareness with, engaging, and enabling fellow citizens of Newton County, businesses, and local governments to take positive and meaningful steps.

Since 2018, Sustainable Newton has been active in our community by hosting film screenings and discussions, climate change presentations, and connecting members and supporters with partner organizations doing great work on environmental action and sustainability in Newton Co and beyond:

•  In 2019, we worked with Solar CrowdSource and several nonprofits to sponsor a Solarize Newton-Morgan Program which helped 16 area households install solar energy systems totaling 85 kilowatts of capacity and reducing CO2 emissions by about 160,000 pounds per year. 
• Working with the Ray C Anderson Center for Sustainable Business in the GA Tech Scheller College of Business, Sustainable Newton sponsored a graduate student research project to analyze the City of Covington's vehicle fleet and recommend alternative fuel vehicle replacement to reduce the city's carbon footprint by 40% and save 75% on fuel and maintenance.
• And in 2022, working with GA Tech’s Scheller College of Business again, we facilitated a project with the Newton County Solid Waste Authority and the City of Covington to bring drop-off glass recycling back to Covington residents.  Expected to be implemented in late 2022 or early 2023, the program will provide a drop-off location that will be serviced by the Newton Co. Solid Waste Authority.
• Currently, we are working with a Meta (Facebook) Community Action Grant to install rooftop solar to power the facilities of a local non-profit.

As you can see, we have been busy! But we need your help to fund the tools required to continue expanding our reach and growing our impact in the community through virtual and in-person events, print materials, web, and social media content, and outreach to Newton County residents, businesses, and local governments. We are a group of Newton County citizens who are committed to doing whatever we can to make Newton County a more sustainable place to live now and in the future. Your gifts, no matter how small, will help us achieve
our goals.
