Why Five Moments?

Life is made up of moments and they come in many different forms. We don’t always recognize the significance or appreciate each one like we should. Every Thursday I share some of my favorite moments with you in hopes that we can all live in and appreciate the significance and impact that each moment offers.

Made For This Moment

Moments To Lead

We are constantly in the process of becoming. Becoming more and becoming better.

Our greatest challenge is to not let ourselves believe that we have "arrived" after we win the big game or are at the top of the podium.

Yes, there is time to celebrate the victories and we may exhale a little bit, but our biggest challenge is setting our sites on another goal and then getting back to work to be better and become more.

Our greatest competitor is not standing beside us or across from us.

Our greatest competitor is looking at us in the mirror every day when we get up.

We also answer to that same person in the mirror at the end of the day.

At the end of today what will your answer be to the question "am I better now than you were at the start of the day?"

Only you will be able to answer that question.

Be Better Today and Become More.

I'm cheering for you.

Moments To Be Better

It’s easier when you are in your adult years but it’s still there. The comparison game. If we are still working at something there can be a tendency to get caught comparing ourself to others.

We are each given gifts and talents to use to the best of our ability each and every day. We will not be using them to their fullest if we spend time comparing to others.

Don’t worry about being the best, just be the best that you can be and get better at it every day.

Your gifts and talents match up with where you are at right now and you need to use them there to help those around you.

Moments From Social Media

Watch this video. No, I mean it. Watch it and then tell me if it is not one of the most inspiring and moving things you have ever watched.

Did you watch it? Just checking.

Will be a well spent 13:00 minutes if you haven’t yet.

Moments From What I’ve Read

Kevin Deshazo is a very good follow on social media and brings down to earth leadership thoughts in this book. I will be using this a lot in 2023 but pulled it out the other day to read through it a little bit.

Here’s a thought and direct paragraph from the moment I spent in the book.

“At the end of our days, what we accomplished won’t matter. Awards, promotions and success are certainly not bad things, but whether we get those or not, you still have people you interact with every day. People who need encouraged, inspired, to have their voice heard. People worth investing in. Be about them.”

People first.

How will you be remembered?

Moments You Remember

I got to watching this show the other night on Amazon Prime. I am a big James Bond fan and love watching a Bond movie whenever I can or just need to relax a little bit.

I know a lot of them by heart but when you really like something it never gets old. Bond movies are that for me.

The documentary about the music in the Bond films was really interesting, well done, and I learned some things I didn’t know before I watched it. Recommended if you are a fan like I am or a fan of music in general.

I know you’re wondering what my favorites are:

Favorite Bond - Daniel Craig (Sean Connery #2)

Favorite Movie (difficult) - The finale “No Time To Die” was outstanding. (Live and Let Die #2)

Favorite Song - Live and Let Die (below)

Part of what I like about “No Time To Die” is the final scene where those at M16 (British Headquarters) are memorializing James Bond after his death. M reads this quote:

“The function of man is to live not to exist. I shall not use my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” — Jack London (American writer)

Use your time.
