NEWS FROM THE PEWS
(If you have any news you would like to share with the congregation, please contact Nayna Byers.)

If you would like to bring a snack to share, please let Sanna Bashor or Nayna Byers know so we can plan accordingly.
  • Nayna Byers will be attending the Illinois Conference UCC annual celebration on Zoom this week 10/19-10/22 as Lyonsville delegate.
  • In worship, Sunday 10/16, Karas Scholarships of $3000 each were awarded to Cali Fiandaca, Kaila Baker, and Jorja Hegner. Cali, previously an X-ray Technologist, recently completed a Mammography Technologist curriculum at Morraine Valley Community College and has started a new job in that field at Trinity Hospital. Kaila is in her third year at the University of Illinois and is majoring in Animal Science with a goal of attending Veterinarian School upon graduation. Jorja is a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh beginning her studies in the area of Psychology. Congratulations to these three young women for their hard work and dedication. We have been so fortunate here at Lyonsville to have the Pavlus and Karas Scholarship Funds and are thankful for the generosity and commitment to education of these families.
  • Continued prayers for Barb Loehman who continues to deal with knee pain. We miss you in the Chapel. Also, prayers for Patti Haigh, who is having spinal surgery in Denver, CO on 10/17.
  • Thank you Doug Adams and Mike Molloy for getting the screen in the Chapel up and running for 10/16.
  • Thank you for response to the possibility of having an Advent Bible Study for the first 3 Wednesday evenings in December. We have enough people interested for Rev. Gary and I to begin planning. If you want to attend, but have not responded yet, please contact Nayna Byers. More info will follow regarding the topic, date and time.  Along with meaningful discussion, we will share a simple meal and fellowship together.
  • Thank you to all who donated to the recent UCC mission offering, Neighbors in Need. Lyonsville collected a total of $365.
  • On 9/25, we had a memorial service in our chapel for Ruth Davenport, who previously attended our church until moving to California several years ago. Ruth passed away earlier this year. Ruth's son David Davenport worked with Judy Birmingham in the planning of the memorial service. David sent this thank you to Judy:
        -  "Thank you for all the time and effort that you put into Mom's memorial service.
Everything went very smoothly, and that was mostly due to your efforts and
supervision!"                                                                                                                        -  David was also appreciative of the musical skill of Diane Marelli at the piano!
