RECIPE SWAP
Recipe Swap is BACK!  If you want to participate in the library's Recipe Swap, make sure to get your recipe to the library staff!  We will start accepting recipes October 17th through November 19th.  We will get together in December for the Recipe Swap Luncheon, date to be determined.

 
READ & CHAT BOOK CLUB
Read & Chat book club pick is Daisy Jones & the six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This is a gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up. Call the library to get your book reserved at 620-544-2301. We will meet October 27th at 10 am to discuss the book Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. There will be no books for November or December due to the busy holiday season. Hope to see you on Thursday October 27th at 10 am.
COZY MYSTERY BOOK CLUB
Cozy Mystery Book Club is reading Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones. It follows the life of Sheriff Sunshine Vicram who finds her cup o' joe more than half full when the small village of Del Sol, New Mexico, becomes the center of national attention for a kidnapper on the loose. Call to get your book reserved at 620-544-2301. There will be NO book club selections for November or December due to the holiday season. If you are looking for a book to read, please ask library staff for a suggestion. See everyone in January!
KANSAS READS TO PRESCHOOLERS 2022
The 2022 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers title is “Not a Box” by Antoinette Portis. During November, register your birth-5 year old child to win a copy of the book. Don’t miss our “Not a Box” Family Storytime special event on November 19 at 10am.
DINOVEMBER IS COMING!
During the month of November, kids are invited to participate in our Dinovember Reading Challenge. On November 1, pick up a reading log, set your reading goal, and get started reading to earn dinosaur themed awards!

CIRCLE TIME FOR AGES BIRTH - 5!
Register your birth through 5-year-old for Circle Time Storytime! Miss Stacey reads stories, teaches songs and rhymes, and leads children on all kinds of fun adventures. Circle Time is Wednesdays at 10:00am beginning September 7. Registration forms are available in the library or online at

1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Reading is one of the most important skills a child can learn. Help your child become reading-ready by joining the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge! For every 100 books your child experiences before they start Kindergarten, we share a photo with the Hermes and Library Facebook Page. When they hit 1,000 books, we give them an educational workbook and they get their photo on the front page of the paper! To start logging books, pick up a reading lot at the library.


MAHJONG CLASS
Make sure to sign up for Mahjong class at the library!  We still have spots available, and registration is required.  We will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons.  If you have any questions, contact the library and ask to talk to Laurie.  620-544-2301.

 
STORYWALK MONTHLY DRAWING
Win prizes for your family by visiting our Storywalk at the Stevens County Gas & Historical Museum walking trail! Start at the old school building and head north, reading the story as you walk around the trail. Every time you visit, use your smartphone to fill out the participation survey and we will enter you in a monthly prize drawing. You can also send photos of your family enjoying the Storywalk to stacey@stevenscountylibrary.com

GENEALOGY RESEARCH
Elder and Sister Hovey from the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints are doing family history research at the Stevens County Library.  They are available to help patrons with their own genealogy research questions on the second Thursday of the month at 2 pm and on the last Saturday of the month at 2 pm, unless otherwise posted.  If you have any questions, please call the Library at 620-544-2301.

SPORTING EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT
It's time to get outside, so make sure to take advantage of the library's activity equipment!  We have birdwatching kits, tennis rackets, pickleball rackets, and disk golf sets for checkout!
