OER Course Flagging Changes
We now have 2 Course Types in our system. The reason for this change is to meet the DHE Course Flagging guidelines in order to streamline tracking costs to students. This will allow the College and state to advocate for more funding for OER initiatives throughout the state. These changes will happen for Spring 2023. When students use Self-Service, they will have two options:
Course Type:
OER No-Cost. This course uses no-cost instructional materials ($0).
Course Type OERL:
OER Low-Cost. This course uses low-cost instructional materials ($50 or less).
Working with the registrar's office we have tried to flag those courses that use instructional Materials that are under $50. Please have faculty fill out the following form, to make sure we have marked the course properly.

As always, if you have any questions or comments feel free to reach out to Ceit De Vitto.
Stipend for a Book review
Currently we are looking for Faculty Book reviewers for Open Textbook Network. The stipend is $200. All you have to do is read an OER book from Open Textbook Library send an email to Ceit De Vitto Kmdevitt@bhcc.edu and let her know what book you want to review, and she will send you a link directly to the review page (this will come from OEN) and a Scope with guidelines and due dates. This is a great way to get involved with the OER community and see what books that are out there for your field.
