Over the past week or so I've been getting a lot of questions from confused residents about a flier that was mailed to voters about Measure V. The flier that I personally received is shown below, and it claims that the parcels shown on the map have been identified by City Council as "potential future sites for high density development." This is not true.
To help confused residents understand what is real, I put together a short video (about 16 minutes long) titled "Clarifying a Confusing Flier Re: Measure V" that unpacks what is true and what is false, and explains why and how this flier is misleading. I sincerely hope that you will take the time, either by watching this video, or by researching the information yourself, to become educated on this topic.
The parcels on the map are not the parcels that the City Council has identified as “opportunity sites” to rezone as “high density development.”
There are no plans to rezone parcels that currently have single family homes.
There are no plans to develop housing at parks.
The Housing Element draft has already been submitted to the State (Menlo Park is awaiting feedback). It outlines exactly where the Council is planning to rezone (single family homes and parks are not included).
Measure V was initiated to prevent the Council from rezoning the Flood School site.
Zoning is complicated.
