Hitting the Ceiling
Dear Reader,
A key learning in the EOS® journey is when we teach the concept called: Hitting the Ceiling.
Now hitting the ceiling means that on your growth path - you might be growing as an individual or your department is growing (if you're leading a department), or the company as a whole is growing - on that growth path, it doesn't always go smoothly. You don’t always grow steadily over time; you do come to places where you're actually hitting the ceiling.
This concept explains that, at this place, you've outgrown whatever systems you've developed, whatever training you have and whatever resources and capabilities you've developed over time. You do not have enough to take you through to the next period.
It feels bad to be in this place, when you're hitting the ceiling. It feels like you're working harder; you're not getting stuff done. You're not making more money; actually, you'll be making less money because things are just getting so complicated.
For you to break through the ceiling needs, discipline, and some tools I'll be talking about in some of the next editions of this little newsletter.
It is key that you understand that this is a natural and normal occurrence in the growth path of any individual, any department, or any company. You need to realize that you will hit the ceiling from time to time and you need to have the resources and the tools to break through the ceiling every time. Because only if you can break through the ceiling, you will come to a place where it's less complicated, where you will be making progress, where you've got a better structure and you will be able to go forward. You will be on your path of growth again.
So there you have it: hitting the ceiling is something that happens from time to time in a growth path. It's a necessary part of your growth journey.
Let's talk about how to break through the ceiling in some future editions of this.
Have a great week!
