La Veta Public Library
THIS THURSDAY!
Join us for gourmet nibbles and refreshments, play with all the things you can borrow that aren’t books, and find out what the library is planning for the future!  Drop by during this informal evening and enjoy everything we have to share.  We have been listening to the community all summer and there will be a short, 15 minute presentation of what we have found out.

Special thanks to the Institute for Museum and Library Studies for funding this event and the past year’s community survey.
Haunted Huerfano Program
Saturday, October 29, 11:00 am
We are getting spookily close to the Haunted Huerfano programs!
On Saturday, October 29th at 11 AM, at La Veta Library we will be sharing ghost stories, stories of the supernatural and the unexplained. Plus, Ron Sandoval has shared some great pictures of the family cemeteries in the Red Wing, Chama area. In addition, we will have the Prism Paranormal researchers that have done “ghostbuster” investigations in our area!
Stop by the Library Front Porch for treats and a book!
Thursday, November 3rd at 1:00 pm

Susan Harness is guest speaker for many organizations and educational institutions around the US. In making sense of her own family, she addresses the complex issues of the

American Indian history of assimilation, and the very real—but culturally constructed—concept of race. It helped Harness answer the often puzzling questions of stereotypes, a sense of nonbelonging, the meaning of family, and the importance of forgiveness and self-acceptance. In the process, Bitterroot also provides a deep and rich context in which to experience life.
