Meet Brian & Jon. Jon has been working at SLC for 14 years, and Brian has been volunteering here almost as long.
How did you two meet?
J: Doing activities through Center for Independent Futures.
B: We had BBQs and watched movies.
What do you like about working/volunteering at SLC?
B: I like the kids and doing art.
J: I like the kids, the staff and all of my responsibilities here.
What do you do for fun?
B: Travel
J: Babysit and exercise (I like to go on long walks)

Early Care/After Care Drop In
We offer the option to have children "drop in" to Early Care (8:30-9:30) or After Care (12:00-2:00 or 12:00-4:00) on an as-needed basis. Based on enrollment and staffing, however, space is limited. It is important that parents sign-up through the Portal if you are in need of Early or After Care (registration is on a first come, first served basis.) Please follow these instructions when the need arises. Thank you!

We Need You
Subs: Are you interested in working a few hours a week in one of our classrooms? We are looking to add to our sub list. We may be biased but it's a lot of fun! If you want to learn more contact Katie Kelly.
Food for Friends Program: Are you interested in supporting the Parent Committee from home? We are looking for someone to run our Food for Friends program by creating on-line meal trains for families in need and emailing the information to classrooms. If you want to learn more contact Katie Kelly.

The children are starting to talk about, and anticipate, the arrival of Halloween. Please read about how SLC approaches this holiday, and here to learn more about the City of Evanston's Halloween Festivities (including trick or treating information).

Picture Retake/Sibling Day
Picture Day was a success! An email with access to your child's proofs will be delivered on November 4th. If you would like to schedule a retake or a sibling photo please read this flyer to learn how to sign-up. Retakes will take place at SLC on Friday, November 11th. If your child is not in school on that day, you can bring them to SLC for retakes.

Every fall we look forward to parent-teacher conferences. Conferences will be held in-person and will focus on the social-emotional development of your child. Please keep an eye out for a sign-up link sent via email in the coming days.
