November Newsletter
 Good morning All,

November can be a busy month for educators! The New Teacher Center reports that November can also be a time of disillusionment for teachers. In Onward, Elena Aguilar focuses this month's chapter on "Taking Care of Yourself". One way to take care of yourself is to slow down and build connections with colleagues. I appreciate Elena's suggestion to ask a colleague a thoughtful question, like "What's something you're feeling really good about this year?" Or, "What's been your greatest accomplishment as a teacher?" Or, "Tell me about a student you felt you made a difference with?" (Read all 10 tips for slowing down from Elena Aguilar here). What I love about these questions is that they support teachers moving out of the disillusionment phase (even if just for 5 minutes), while also supporting colleagues in slowing down and building connections! I'm setting a goal to ask colleagues this question once a week this month--I hope you will join me in this goal :-)

We're excited to share this month's TREC opportunities:
Make sure to read all the way through the newsletter to learn about opportunities from our partners including Preschool Family Nature Day, EdCamp, and Pima Community College PD!

I hope you are able to take care of yourself this year and slow down a bit, even if it's just one afternoon soon.

Best,
~Dr. Jen Kinser-Traut, TREC Director
