A Huge Thanks to the Florida Blue Foundation
|
|
Recognizing that food insecurity is a growing problem facing children and families in our community, regardless of zip code, the Florida Blue Foundation has awarded The LJD Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS) a four-year $380,000 grant to provide food at two local elementary schools, George Washington Carver and Beauclerc Elementary.
Prior to JFCS starting small satellite Max Block Food Pantries at both schools, teachers, staff, and volunteers had taken it upon themselves to distribute food and provide for their students' basic needs. With Florida Blue’s support, JFCS has greatly enhanced the school pantries, offering a more diverse range of nutritious easy-to-prepare non-perishable food.
JFCS appreciates Florida Blue Foundation’s continued support of our community!

JFCS had a record day at the Max Block Food Pantry this past Thursday.
64 Families / 242 Individuals were served in just over two hours.
It is sad the need continues to grow, but we are grateful to the donors and volunteers who make it possible for us to serve our community.
