Autumn 2022 Upcoming Important Dates

  • Oct. 24-30: Spring semester registration begins for Graduate students
  • Oct. 28: 
    • Last day to drop a class without petitioning - Autumn Semester
    • Last date to drop a course using online registration - Autumn Session 2
    • Last day of 50% refund period - Autumn Session 2
    • Last day to add a course without a petition - Autumn Session 2
    • Last day to drop a class without receiving a "W" on the student's record - Autumn Session 2.
  • Oct. 29: Late Registration Fee of $500 for initial registration and Late Course Add Fee of $100 per additional class assessed - Autumn Session 2

Join a conversation on how to navigate the advisee-advisor relationship

Interested in helping your fellow Ed Studies students out with a class project and get some free food in the process? We are looking for doctoral students to join us for a conversation about how you navigate issues of power, privilege and difference with your doctoral advisor and/or your supervisor in your assistantship. International Research and Scholarship Grant

Proposals are sought from faculty, graduate and undergraduate students for a wide range of international projects that can be implemented on campus and around the globe. International Research and Scholarship Grant projects can address critical issues in regional context; advance disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary methods; implement collaborative/inclusive research scholarship and exchange in diverse settings; explore area studies; and research global education that enhances equity, and racial justice, to engages the state, the nation and the world. Proposal deadline is November 18, 2022.

Consider enrolling in Stat 5760 - Statistical Consulting Support

Every semester the Statistics Department offers Stat 5760, Statistical Consulting Support from the Statistical Consulting Service (SCS). You can enroll in the course and receive up to 17 hours of statistical help from a graduate student consultant during the semester. The faculty co-directors of the SCS will closely monitor the progress of your project and provide any necessary assistance. We can assist with modeling data with complex structures or missing entries, exploring data patterns, making predictions, performing statistical inference, and interpreting results. Our consultants have expertise in R, but we can often support other software packages as well.

Join us for a casual conversation about innovative teaching practices just for Graduate Students. All students who are interested in teaching are encouraged to join; no GA Appointment needed to be a part of this best practices, knowledge-sharing conversation. Bring a lunch! Academic Job Search Series: The Interview
Hosted by the Office of Research. Career Counseling and Support Services will be presenting an interview skills workshop. The focus of the Workshop will be on being proactive in the interview so that students feel that they have control over what is being communicated and strategies for answering specific questions that are commonly asked.

OUAB Grad/Prof Quiz Night
Hosted by the Ohio Union Activities Board. Join us as grad/prof students get together for a night of trivia and fun! Pre-arranged and impromptu-created teams compete in a night of trivia. Prizes are awarded to the top team of the evening. Check in begins at 5:30 p.m.  First question begins at 6 p.m. All teams must register for each quiz night. Teams may include up to 50% non-student guests. Team registration must be submitted by noon on the day of the event. Please send registration information to OUABgradprof@osu.edu.
The Educational Studies student newsletter accepts announcements and events that pertain to the department’s graduate student community. The submission deadline is noon every Thursday.
