Yale Climate Connections - In southwest Fresno many young people grow up breathing diesel fumes from trucks that drive through the neighborhood each day. They play near industrial facilities and on hot days, they sweat on sidewalks with little shade. One organization is working to make sure young people are engaged in their community’s plans to address environmental problems.
East Bay Times - Marin supervisors said earlier this month that they will support an ordinance requiring that new residential and commercial construction in Marin be all-electric beginning Jan. 1. The ordinance contains other provisions designed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the use of natural gas - including tougher energy efficiency requirements for additions and increased access to electric vehicle charging stations.
Utility Dive The California Energy Commission on Oct. 12 adopted new load management standards requiring utilities to develop retail electricity rates that “change at least hourly” to reflect grid costs and greenhouse gas emissions. “This update is a huge leap into the 21st century, using digital approaches to unlock benefits for consumers by enabling them to automate their electricity use around cheaper rates and changing grid conditions,” said CEC Commissioner Andrew McAllister.
PV Magazine -Axium Infrastructure and two Canadian Solar subsidiaries have installed and activated what they describe as the world’s largest single-phase energy storage facility. The Crimson Storage project features 350 MW/1,400 MWh of standalone battery energy storage, delivering flexible power to California’s grid.  The project is held by a fund managed by Axium (80%) and Recurrent Energy (20%). CSI Energy Storage operated as the turnkey system integrator of the project, delivering engineering, procurement, and construction services.
